She's made it to the final four despite three dramatic dance offs.

But Ashley Roberts has admitted taking part in the 2018 series of Strictly Come Dancing has been 'a mental and emotional strain' after failing to win over the public who have voted her into the final two three times in a row.

Speaking at a press conference ahead of Saturday's grand finale, the Pussycat Doll admitted she and professional partner Pasha Kovalev have 'battled' their way to the final.

Ashley has been saved for the past three weeks by the Strictly judges after being voted into the dance off, but along with Stacey Dooley, Faye Tozer and Joe Sugg, will compete for the 2018 Glitterball trophy on Saturday.

Asked on Thursday what she has found the most surprising part of the BBC dance show, Ashley admitted: 'It’s the emotional rollercoaster ride.'

'It’s such a process what you go through and you start doubting yourself – “how is this all going to come together on Saturday?” and somehow it does. I thought it would be physically challenging but also the emotional, mental strain that sometimes happens. But it’s all worth it.'

Ashley added that despite her tough journey she's never lost motivation to keep going, explaining:

'The motivation comes naturally. I remember when I first got the call to do this show I was so excited and so grateful to be a part of it. The motivation is there, that’s not the issue.'

'The first two times in the dance off I was like “OK that’s a bit of a bummer” but then Monday hits, it’s a new week, it’s a fresh start, then you get in there and get focused.'

'So by the third time I looked at Pasha and was like “OK honey, shall we just give them a little show because we’re here!” We did have to battle to get to the final but I’m so grateful and I just want to go out there any enjoy it.'

Pasha spoke in defence of criticism Ashley has received about her previous dance experiences, insisting his partner has worked just as hard as anyone else.

'From a professional perspective, every year we have people thinking someone has more of an advantage. But from my point of view it’s a completely different ball game and you still have to put so much work in order to master the ballroom and Latin, which are separate from all other dance styles.'

'I take my hat off to Ashley, she’s coming back not only more motivated, but more positive and focused and reenergised. The show must go on.'

Ashley gushed that Strictly has only encouraged her to return to performing, after spending much of her years since the Pussycat Dolls disbanded in TV presenting roles.

'The show has lit a fire in me again to perform, I just forgot how much I love doing it,' she admitted.

Ashley and Pasha will perform their finale Showdance to Keeping Your Head up by Birdy while their judges' pick dance is their Salsa to (I’ve Had The) Time Of My Life by Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes

Strictly Come Dancing: The Final airs on BBC One on Saturday at 6:30pm.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
