'They said the breaking would be hard. The landing was aggressive and it was scary but it wasn't too bad,' said one man. 'But there was this big bump at the end. And we didn't know what happened until there was mud and grass coming down the windows.'

The Engineered Material Arresting System (EMAS) was used to stop the plane, the FAA said.

EMAS is designed to safely stop planes that overshoot runways, according to the FAA's website.

It was unknown if rain was a factor in the incident.

Fortunately, nobody was injured but passengers said it was more shocking once they got off the plane and saw where the aircraft ended up.

'They said the breaking would be hard. The landing was aggressive and it was scary but it wasn't too bad,' said one man to Fox LA. 'But there was this big bump at the end. And we didn't know what happened until there was mud and grass coming down the windows and we were at the end of the runway very close to where the end of the strip, where the street is.'

Another person on the flight who was not named also had a similar experience: 'It was bumpy but no different to any other turbulent landing. It was really uneventful - but what was more shocking was coming off the plane and seeing where it had ended up.'

Southwest Airlines ended up cancelling all Hollywood Burbank Airport until 3pm on Thursday.

Passenger Moe Storch tweeted the Southwest plane from Oakland to Burbank appeared to hydroplane after it landed on the wet runway.

The pilot 'regained control and hit brakes hit, reverse thrust, just in time,' he wrote.

He praised the pilots for regaining control of the Boeing 737.

In response to his tweet, Twitter user Megan Pepper said she saw the incident and was scared the plane was going to crash.

In a reply on Twitter that has since been deleted, Southwest said: 'We have some really great pilots who ensure the safety of our customers! We hope we can welcome you onboard again soon, Moe.''

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
