«Breaking News» Sky Sports presenter Simon Thomas shares sweet teddy made from late wife’s dressing gown

Former Sky Sports presenter Simon Thomas has said his late wife Gemma would be happy that he's in a new relationship, following her death.

The widowed father-of-one, 45, said he knows Gemma - who died aged 40 in November last year, just four days after being diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia - would have wanted him to find happiness again.

Simon, who hasn't named his new partner, admitted that he 'didn't expect to be in a relationship this early', but explained 'you have to try and find some kind of life again.'

It comes after Simon shared a picture of the teddy bear he has had made from his late wife Gemma's dressing gown, as a Christmas present for nine-year-old son Ethan.

Speaking about his new relationship on Loose Women today, Simon said: 'It's early stages. You have to try and find some kind of life again.

'You've got two choices, you either give up on life, and kind of remain in a cave. That's totally fine - that's not for anyone to judge.

'I just want to be happy again. I know Gemma would want to me to be happy.

'I didn't expect to be in a relationship this early. But when it came, I thought why can't I be?'

Earlier today, Simon  shared a picture of the teddy he has had made from late wife Gemma's dressing gown, as a Christmas present for nine-year-old son Ethan. It is inscribed with the words: ''My darling Ethan, I love you with all of my heart and always will, your mummy xxx'

While appearing on the programme, Simon also described how he has kept going for son Ethan.

He explained how it was difficult for the youngster to go back to school following Gemma's death, having to face the reality that 'he's never going to see his mummy at the school gate again.'

Earlier today, Simon shared a photograph of a blue and white striped teddy he had made for son Ethan for Christmas.

The toy was inscribed with the words: 'My darling Ethan, I love you with all of my heart and always will, your mummy xxx.'

Sharing a picture of the toy, Simon posted:  'Just love this so much. A Christmas present for the boy made out of Gemma's dressing gown.

'Thank you so much to the talented Tara Finlay for making something that he'll treasure and find comfort from forever.'

The post racked up over 2,000 likes in just an hour, with followers praising the thoughtful gesture.

'What a lovely idea!', one person wrote. Another added: 'It will give so much comfort to Ethan. My husband's grandfather passed away last month and we have a  memory bear for his gran for Christmas. A friend of mine made a shirt out of one of the shirts for the bear and we can't wait to give it to her.'

Sharing her own story, one woman wrote: 'This is amazing. I'm 27 and I lost my mum in July. I even think I'd find comfort in this'.

It has been just over a year after Gemma died last November,  after she was sent home for bed rest by her GP after visiting three times with flu-like symptoms.

This will be Simon and Ethan's second Christmas without Gemma, after she died just four days after being diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia, aged 40.

Last week the former Sky Sports star told GMB why he began leaving notes in his son's lunchbox, following the death of his mum.

He said: 'I found it so hard when he went back to school. When mum went that quick everything changes.

'He was back within a week I wanted him to know I was still with him– not physically but in spirit.

'I think as any parent whose lost a wife or husband and there's kids involved you feel so much pain on their behalf and one thing you mourn is the losses for mummy. The years he should have enjoyed. The lost years with loved ones who are gone.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
