«Breaking News» Politicians and dignitaries arrive for George HW Bush's State Funeral

George HW Bush once worried that his funeral would be a non-event, a fear that proved unfounded on Wednesday as thousands lined up to say goodbye to the 41st president of the United States.

Al Gore, Colin Powell, Dick Cheney, Condoleezza Rice, and Rudy Giuliani were among the first political heavyweights to arrive for Bush's funeral - which will be attended by all four living presidents and dozens of world leaders.

Peyton Manning, who paid his respects to Bush's casket in the Capitol Rotunda earlier this week, was also seen walking into the ceremony.

The Bush family, led by the political dynasty patriarch's eldest son George W Bush and his wife Barbara, arrived just before the start of the ceremony.

George W Bush appeared emotional as he put his hand over his heart and watched the US Air Force Honor Guard present his father's casket.

Bush will receive a national farewell at Washington National Cathedral on Wednesday following three days of remembrance by dignitaries and ordinary citizens.

The ceremony will bring together everyone from world envoys to sports stars and a man from Maine who used to fix things in Bush's house.

It will also bring together Democratic and Republican stars during a time in which American politics have become increasingly partisan.

The Bush family had assured Donald Trump this past summer that he would not be left out of their patriarch's funeral, wanting to keep the focus on the achievements of the nation's 41st President.

And the family was true to its word, as Trump's daughter Ivanka and son-in-law Jared Kushner could be seen rubbing shoulders among the guests before the funeral began.

Barack Obama and former first lady Michelle - who canceled part of her book global book tour to make it to the ceremony -  are also attending alongside Bill and Hillary Clinton and Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter.

The future British King Prince Charles and former Prime Minister John Major are attending, along with Germany's Chancellor Angela Merkel, the King and Queen of Jordan, and former Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney - who is expected to deliver a eulogy.

George W Bush, the former leader's eldest son and the 43rd President, will deliver the centerpiece eulogy.

Bush Senior's funeral marks the first time since Lyndon Johnson's death in 1973 that a sitting president was not tapped to eulogize a late president.

The other eulogists will be Mulroney, Alan Simpson, the former senator from Wyoming, and presidential historian Jon Meacham - who wrote a Bush biography.

After the national funeral service at the cathedral, Bush's remains will be returned to Houston to lie in repose at St Martin's Episcopal Church.

He will be buried on Thursday at his family plot on the presidential library grounds at Texas A&M University in College Station.

Bush died Friday in Houston at age 94. His wife of 73 years, Barbara, passed away in April.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
