«Breaking News» Otto Warmbier's parents to seek $1 BILLION in compensation from North Korea

A wrongful death lawsuit filed this year by the parents of U.S. college student Otto Warmbier against North Korea is now seeking more than $1 billion from the government the Warmbiers say tortured and killed their son.

Fred and Cindy Warmbier, of suburban Cincinnati, sued in April in federal court in Washington. North Korean authorities arrested their son in January 2016 for stealing a propaganda poster. He was sentenced to 15 years in prison.

The 22-year-old died in 2017, days after he was repatriated to the U.S. with severe brain damage.

The Cincinnati Enquirer reports a motion filed in October in the lawsuit seeks $1.05 billion in punitive damages and about $46 million for the family's suffering.

North Korea has repeatedly denied the accusations that it tortured Warmbier.

Warmbier's parents made emphatic statements in court on Wednesday after the family began their legal action against the communist state in April.

In April Otto's mother, Cindy Warmbier said 'I'm going to stand up to evil when I see it. There is nothing more evil than North Korea.'

Cindy repeated that sentiment at the court house in Washington DC on Wednesday, saying: 'We are not going to be the victims. I want them to feel victimized,' CNN reported.

His father Fred said: 'We're here because we don't fear North Korea anymore. They're cowards.

'They've done the worst they could do. This is the work of a coward.'

He said the regime had held them 'hostage,' WENY reported, as they were unable to denounce the North Koreans for fear Otto would not be returned while he was in custody.

Fred also spoke of the pain he felt when he was reunited with his son who was comatose and unable to communicate with him.

Otto's mother and father along with his two siblings Greta and Austin demanded 'closure' and 'justice' for their son from Kim Jong Un's regime.

Otto, from Cincinnati, Ohio, was arrested while waiting to depart Pyongyang airport after the 22-year-old visited as a student in January 2016.

His upsetting confession was broadcast to the world in March of that year in which he admitted to the theft of a propaganda poster from a hotel in the North Korean capital.

His swift trial ended in a conviction and he was sentence to 15 years hard labor.

In June 2017, the Trump Administration secured the release of Otto but he was repatriated in a coma, with North Korean authorities claiming he was suffering from a rare illness called botulism.

American medical experts in Cincinnati could find no evidence of botulism on his return and he was taken off life support shortly afterwards on June 19.

The family are seeking damages for Otto's wrongful death, emotional distress and torture which they believe he was subjected to by the North Korean government.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
