«Breaking News» Kanye West's 'stepfather' says rapper wouldn't be married to Kim if his mother Donda was still alive

The man who considers himself Kanye West's 'stepfather' has broken his silence for the first time to DailyMailTV to reveal he's concerned for the rapper, blaming the Kardashians for his controversial comments, claiming they have left him 'isolated' and feeling like a 'prisoner in solitary confinement'.

Ulysses Blakeley lived with West and his mother Donda throughout the musician's childhood, and was one of Donda's last true loves before she died after a botched cosmetic surgery operation in November 2007.

It was Blakeley who bought Donda and her son their first home on South Shore Drive in Chicago, which was recently purchased by the charity set up in his mother's name, Donda's House.

Blakeley has never spoken out until now and believes that most of West's meltdowns are because he's still mourning the loss of his professor mother - and having no real friends or family to turn to.

The 67-year-old, who works with the black community in south Chicago, claims West's only 'circle of trust' are his 'guards' - the Kardashians - and it must feel like he's a 'prisoner in solitary'.

Speaking to DailyMailTV from his home in Chicago, Blakeley reveals: 'There's no question the erratic behavior and unfortunate statements he's making, to me, they are a response to her death, even now.

'My essential take is that he is kind of alone, I don't know who he's hanging out with apart from the Kardashians. I don't see anyone from before that time, confidantes or friends before he was successful, they're not there. It seems like he doesn't have that connection back to a trustworthy person, no circle of trust.

'If Donda was alive he wouldn't be married to Kim Kardashian because Donda would have interacted with Kim and Kanye, so as to expose the incompatibility of their relationship. I could imagine them all at the dinner table and how uncomfortable it would be.

Blakeley had a special relationship with West, as Donda reveals in her 2007 biography, Raising Kanye, which was published just before she died.

Donda wrote: 'Ulysses Buckley Blakeley Jr., or Bucky, was one. I thought he was going to be my last love. He and I had a great relationship.

'Kanye liked him a lot. He would take Kanye to the park for hours near his apartment building in Evanston [in Chicago]. Kanye used to call that park 'Bucky's Park.'

Blakeley was the first man Donda dated after divorcing West's father Ray, who moved to Maryland, and his son would only see him in the summers.

It was up to Blakeley to fill the vacuum of having no father around. Blakeley said: 'I kind of guess he saw me as a stepfather, I was there from three to around 11.'

The couple only split because West and his mother took off to China for a year, as she had been offered a teaching post at Nanjing University.

The pair remained friends when they came back and Blakeley attended her funeral, which is the last time he spoke to Kanye.

'The people he's created into a new family are the worst for him. They're not artistic, Kanye is artistic. I don't think it's the healthiest thing for him.

'What people are seeing is isolation, the lack of meaningful emotional and intellectual connection, there's no one who is remotely his peer.

'It's like he's a prisoner in solitary. You can talk to the guards, but it's you that's alone in the room. The guards don't love you.'

Blakeley says Kanye's 'slavery is a choice' comment comes 'from not having the black experience. He added: 'I don't see the Kardashians as emotionally intelligent. Clearly he's not hanging around the south side of Chicago or with any black folk in general'

He also points out how Kanye drew backlash in May when he told TMZ: 'When you hear about slavery for 400 years. For 400 years? That sounds like a choice.'

Blakeley doesn't believe Kanye is bipolar, but that his actions stem from an outpouring of overwhelming grief and loneliness.

Blakeley said: 'Donda and Kanye were each other's family. No brothers, sisters, you're just with your mother.

'Anyone dealing with unresolved grief, is going to have some issues. I think that some of things he does that dismays, is just part of the incalculable loss he suffered [of his mother]. I don't think it's a mental health issue.

'He was extremely close to his mother, she died suddenly. I know, as I knew him then, it would effect him profoundly.

'The thing that I see is grieving that's not been resolved, not mental health, like bipolar or anything like that. I don't see that he'll do terrible things [like suicide]. I would be surprised.

'Does he seem like the person politically who would say George Bush doesn't care about black people and then say this about slaves? It doesn't seem like the same person.'

He added: 'So the only thing I can think of, with the loss of his mother, he's seeking to replicate a family circle thing, his [new] family may say stuff like: ''Slavery is a choice''.

'I believe the Kardashians are saying things like that even though they're claiming to be liberals. They're not well-founded intellectual people. I'm sure they have some of those moments.

'He'd start saying things like that, so he feels more accepted and likeable to that group. Clearly he doesn't believe what he said about slavery.

'When you are surrounded in a different social, economic and political environment, you tend to repeat and resonate what's in that world. Clearly he's not hanging around the south side of Chicago or with any black folk in general.

'Saying slavery is a choice, that would come from someone who doesn't have the black experience. I don't see the Kardashians as emotionally intelligent.'

'When he came back from China, he'd made a watercolor of a dragon, which an adult could have done. If you'd have framed it in an art gallery and said it was some Chinese artist from the 15th century, people would believe you.

'He was just ten,' he said.

'I don't know them [the Kardashians], but I can't imagine they have a particular fondness for the person who does Chinese watercolor paintings. The person who he is, is a Chinese watercolor guy.'

Kanye and Kim are right not to back his late mother's charity - it's useless!

Earlier this year, Kanye West had a massive fallout with his childhood best friend and former songwriter Rhymefest, real name Che Smith, who helped produce some of his biggest hits, and has been instrumental in carrying on the work of West's mother's foundation, Donda's House.

The spat between Rhymefest and West blew up in May after the Rhymefest claimed West had refused to fund the charity virtually since its inception in 2013 and had 'abandoned' his home city.

Donda's House had purchased West's childhood home, pictured, for it to become a center for budding and disadvantaged musical talents, but it's been left in disrepair as West refused to give any money to the project.

In response to Rhymfest's accusations, West's wife Kim Kardashian said the charity was using him, saying: 'U haven't been right since u got kicked out of the studio in Hawaii wearing fake Yeezy's @RHYMEFESTYou're over levereging Kanye's name & asked Kanye to donate money to u so stop w your fake community politics & lies. Truth is you haven't been able to sustain the foundation.'

Blakeley has some sympathy with West, saying: 'Rhymefest is still trying to use Kanye to assist in being Rhymefest. Whatever his contribution, Rhymefest needs him as a foil or supporter. I have some sympathy with Kanye.

'Donda's House was created in Donda's head and whatever structures need to be in place, need to be driven by the engine of Donda. Now there's no engine of hers, it's just smoke. When she died, I knew it wouldn't be doing much after that.

'Donda's conception was that she wanted to create an institution that educates, protects, supports children like Kanye, and discover what capabilities these kids have.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
