«Breaking News» Jeb Bush's daughter Noelle does reading at George H.W. Bush's funeral

Jeb Bush's daughter Noelle joined three of her cousins for a reading at George H.W. Bush's Texas funeral.

Noelle joined the 41st president's fellow granddaughters Barbara Bush, Marshall Bush, and Elizabeth Dwen Andrews to read the Psalm 23.

Marshall Bush took to the podium first in St. Martin's Episcopal Church in Houston and read from the Old Testament.

Barbara, who could barely hold back her tears, followed to continue with a reading from Psalm 23.

Noelle, 41, then went up to recite a short line before Elizabeth finished the reading.

While many of Bush's grandchildren have taken public roles in politics, charity, or even Hollywood, Noelle has avoided the spotlight.

Jeb Bush's eldest son George, 42, was recently elected to a second term as Texas Land Commissioner and was selected to deliver a eulogy in honor of his grandfather on Thursday.

His and Noelle's younger brother Jeb Jr, 34, has also been in the public eye and often appeared in support of his father when Jeb was running for president in 2016.

Noelle didn't join her family on the campaign trail, but she did not go unmentioned.

Jeb wrote a candid Medium post in 2016, opening up about Noelle's history with drug abuse and revealing how it would shape his drug policies if he were elected.

It was a rare public sighting from Noelle, who had stayed out of the limelight since her drug arrest made headlines in 2002. She is pictured here in her July 2002 mugshot

'As a father, I have felt the heartbreak of drug abuse,' he wrote. 'My daughter Noelle suffered from addiction, and like many parents facing similar situations, her mom and I struggled to help.'

Bush said he 'never expected' to see his 'precious daughter in jail'.

'It wasn't easy, and it became very public when I was Governor of Florida, making things even more difficult for Noelle.'

'She went through hell, so did her mom [Columba Bush], and so did I.'

Noelle was arrested in 2002, when she was 24, on prescription drug fraud.

Police were called to a Walgreen's drug store in Tallahassee after Noelle attempted to pick up a prescription for Xanax at the pharmacy drive-through.

A Walgreen's pharmacist told police he had received two messages on the store's voicemail from a 'Dr Noelle Scidmore' leaving a detailed Xanax prescription for Noelle Bush.

Noelle later spent 10 days in jail after she was found hiding crack cocaine and pills in her shoe while completing a court-ordered rehabilitation program.

'It's very debilitating when you have a loved one who is struggling, and you can’t control it,' Jeb wrote in the Medium post.

'You have to love them, but you also have to make it clear you cannot enable the behavior that gets them in trouble.'

Jeb also spoke of the day Noelle showed 'a lot of courage' and graduated from a Florida drug court.

'I was the proud dad that saw Noelle finish that. She's drug-free now,' he wrote.

Noelle's struggles with addiction made headlines when Bush was governor of Florida and her uncle George W Bush was president of the United States.

The stories even prompted Jeb to email a Miami Herald reporter in 2003.

'The only reason you wrote the piece or were told to write the piece is that my struggling daughter is the child of a governor,' he wrote, according to emails obtained by the New York Times

'It won't matter in the whole scheme of things, but I wish the media would leave my daughter alone. It would make it a whole lot easy for her to recover and live a life full of hope and promise.'

Fast-forward 15 years later, and Noelle was by her family's side as they put up a united front for their patriarch.

Bush's extended state funeral began its final stages on Thursday with the second church memorial in as many days.

Around 1,200 guests filled St Martin's Episcopal Church, including family members, Houston athletes, civic leaders, and Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Much as with Wednesday's service in Washington DC, Bush's Texas funeral heavily involved family members as his grandsons served as honorary pallbearers and his granddaughters led various readings.

After the funeral at the church, his casket will be taken by train 70 miles from Houston to Texas A&M.

There, a motorcade will take Bush to his presidential library at the university, where he will be laid to rest at a private ceremony next to his wife Barbara, who died in April, and his daughter Robin, who died at age three in 1953.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
