«Breaking News» Irish model Roz Purcell goes viral with honest post of the stretch marks she’s learned to love

A former Miss Universe contestant has won praise after posting an unedited picture of her stretch marks.

Rozanna Purcell, 28, from Clonmel in Ireland, took to Instagram on Thursday to share a bikini snap during a holiday in Bali, revealing her struggle to accept the markings in an honest post with her 240,000 followers.

Admitting that she had spent her teens and early twenties 'cringing' whenever she wore swimwear, Rozanna recalled how she had finally grown to love and accept the 'reptile markings' over the past two years, in a lengthy post.

The model, who won Miss Universe Ireland 2010 and represented Ireland at Miss Universe 2010 in US where she placed top 10, quickly racked up over 35,000 likes and dozens of comments for her inspiring message.

Sharing a picture as she posed for in Seminyak, Bali, where she is currently enjoying a break with her music promoter boyfriend Zach Desmond, she followed it up with a close-up snap of her markings.

Opening up to her followers, she wrote: 'I remember the first time I noticed my stretch marks probably like 11 or 12, I was like "I don't remember my cat scratching me".

She continued: 'A few months of noticing more and more I was like "this is so cool I have all these reptile markings no one else has" and showing them off.

But the model's initial excitement was stilled when she realised that stretch marks didn't appear to be seen as 'accepted or beautiful'.

'As I grew up, went to secondary I realised it was something I shouldn't think was so cool or show, no one in magazines had them. I never noticed them on anyone else, it was not normal or considered beautiful,' she remembered.

'Even now it's rare you see an unedited photo in a magazine, I'm like "how is that girl's butt so smooth".'

But Rozanna revealed that 'with age', she has finally learned to accept her stretch marks.

'It hasn't been until now the past two years I can confidently walk passed someone in a bikini or shorts and not cringe inside thinking that they're probably looking at all my stretch marks and cellulite,' she admitted.

'It’s great to see some one showing a bit of reality for a change sick of everything having filters so hard on people watching that and trying to look the same', one person wrote.

Revealing the picture had helped her feel better about herself, one added: 'This post has genuinely made me feel so much better about my body. It’s the worst feeling in the world being in a bikini and thinking people are staring at your stretch marks.'

'Power to you and all us women with stretch marks, especially power to you for showing them off', one wrote, and another said: 'From one reptile to another Enjoy n be proud'.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
