«Breaking News» Downton Abbey movie: First teaser trailer of the big screen adaptation

Fans of Downton Abbey have been treated to the latest glimpse of the highly anticipated film adaptation as the teaser trailer has just been released.


The film is a follow on from the ITV series and is expected to pick up shortly after the series came to an end with the 1925 New Year's Celebration, with many of the main cast returning. 


The trailer gives little away as to the plot of the film but features several shots of the titular mansion, telling viewers they are 'cordially invited to the motion picture event'.

Downton Abbey follows the lives of the Crawley family and the servants who worked for them at the turn of the 20th century.


The series was an enormous success, winning 3 Emmy awards during its six series run.

It also won 15 Emmy awards and was nominated for a total of 69, making it the most-nominated non-US TV show in the history of the Emmys.


The film will star Hugh Bonneville, Laura Carmichael, Jim Carter, Raquel Cassidy, Brendan Coyle, Michelle Dockery, Kevin Doyle, Joanne Froggatt, Matthew Goode, Harry Hadden-Paton, Rob James-Collier, Allen Leech, Phyllis Logan, Elizabeth McGovern, Sophie McShera and Maggie Smith.

There are some new additions joining the cast of the original series including Imelda Staunton, Geraldine James, David Haig, Simon Jones, Tuppence Middleton, Kate Phillips and Stephen Campbell Moore. 


The movie is set for European release on September 13, 2019, and US release on September 20, 2019.


Speaking on the Sunday Brunch, actor Allen Leech confirmed the film would take place not long after the show's last episode.

He said: 'It picks up not too long after the series ended. So, time-wise, I think we're eight or nine months after.


'The only problem is all the actors are now three years older – it was a pretty heavy eight months.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
