Illinois police and two Good Samaritans pulled a 96-year-old woman from her car just seconds before it was struck by a train on a railroad crossing earlier this week.
Antoinette Lazarra had been attempting to make a right hand turn when she lost control of her vehicle and drove onto the tracks around 8.30pm Monday night.
Witnesses called 911 and reported the incident to the Lombard Police Department. They told authorities that the woman's wheels were spinning as she tried to break free.
Around the same time, Stephen Spapperi and Justin Mueller approached the scene and immediately rushed to help her. Responding Lombard officer Dan Herrera had also just arrived to the scene.

Herrera made sure to contact his supervisors to slow down any incoming trains as they worked to remove Lazarra from the vehicle.
According to a police statement, Herrera, Spapperi, and Mueller 'assisted the Antoinette Lazarra out of her vehicle and off of the tracks'.
Video showed the moment Metra Union Pacific West train #134, which was traveling westbound on the tracks, collided with Lazarra’s vehicle.
The train had already begun to slow down following Herrera's call, but the impact still moved Lazarra's vehicle 50-100 feet.

According to the police statement, Lazarra had been reported missing earlier that morning by her family.
She was treated at the scene by Lombard paramedics and transported to Good Samaritan Hospital for tests and observation.

First responders said Lazarra 'appeared disoriented' as she was being treated at the scene.
No other injuries were reported.
'It’s nice to know that we still have people that act when others are in need. I truly believe that they helped save a life this day,' said Lombard Police Chief Roy Newton.
'These citizens are both Lombard residents and I’m very proud of our town. Lombard is a community that cares about its neighbors and that’s evident with this situation,' he added.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
