At least one person has been killed and another injured in a series of explosions in a high-rise commercial complex in north-eastern China on Friday, local officials said.
The blast happened this afternoon local time, in the Wanda Plaza Apartment Building in Changchun, city authorities said in a statement posted on social media, adding the police are treating the incident as a criminal case.
Eyewitnesses reported hearing over 20 explosions and people had been evacuated from buildings surrounding the Wanda Plaza Apartment, the state-run Beijing Youth Daily newspaper reported.
Some other eyewitnesses claimed to have seen unidentified explosives thought to be firecrackers being thrown from heights towards the pedestrians, according to Hongxing News.

Official statements said the first blast occurred when a car in the car park in the basement exploded at 3:13pm local time (7:13 GMT). The second blast took place in an office on the 30th floor of the same building three minutes later.
The complex contains a high-end shopping centre in the lower levels as well as offices and apartments on the upper floors.
New York Times reporter Austin Ramzy claimed 17 explosions occurred in the space of three minutes after counting the blasts captured by an online video thought to be of the incident, according to a tweet from Mr Ramzy.
One web user, who claims to live on the 26th floor of the building, wrote on China's Twitter-like platform Weibo that he saw firecrackers being thrown from above.
The explosions occurred on Hongqi Jie, the busiest part of the city.
City officials said in the statement that one person was killed in the explosions after being trapped in the office and was later found dead by rescuers.
Social media footage showed a busy road shrouded in smoke as devices exploded on the ground while people fled.
While another clip shows people watching on from the street as the unit was rocked by the blast.
Rescuers, including firefighters and paramedics, have attended to the scene.
Cause of the explosions is under investigation.

Bomb explosions have occurred in China in recent years.
Last July, a 26-year-old man set off a small explosive outside the United States embassy in Beijing, injuring his hand and sending smoke into the air. Police said he was from Inner Mongolia but did not reveal any motive.
In June 2017, a bomb exploded outside a kindergarten in east Jiangsu province, killing eight people and injuring dozens. The explosion was blamed on a 22-year-old introvert with health problems who died in the blast.
The incident also comes just over a week before the Lunar New Year holiday, which the Chinese usually welcome with firecrackers and fireworks, sometimes resulting in accidents.
Last February, a fireworks explosion killed four and injured five in southwestern Yunnan province.
In January 2006, 36 people were killed as they celebrated the Lunar New Year at a temple festival in central China's Henan province when fireworks exploded in an illegal factory storeroom nearby.

Wanda Plaza Apartment is part of the Dalian Wanda Group, owned by Chinese business magnate Wang Jianlin, once the richest man in the country.

Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
