«Breaking News» Leaked memo reveals Trump administration DID want to separate families at the border

A leaked Trump administration memo shows that the government did consider separating families at the US border despite calling press reports on the matter 'irresponsible and unproductive'.

The December 2017 document was given to Oregon Democratic Sen. Jeff Merkley's office, which said it came from an anonymous government whistleblower.

The memo, a draft of what was to become the administration's official policy on family separation, shows that officials weighed 'separating family units, placing the adults in adult detention, and placing the minors under the age 18 in the custody of HHS (Health and Human Services) as unaccompanied alien children'.

According to comments on the document, the administration considered denying the children their right to asylum hearings before an immigration judge as a means of speeding up their deportation.

Instead, the whole family would receive an 'expedited removal' order and separated while they await deportation.

'If CBP issues an ER [expedited removal] for the entire family unit, places the parents in the custody of the U.S. Marshal, and then places the minors with HHS, it would seem that DHS (Department of Homeland Security) could work with HHS to actually repatriate [deport] the minors then,' the comment says.

'It would take coordination with the home countries, of course, but that doesn't seem like too much of a cost to pay compared to the status quo.'

Neither the draft nor the comments refer to any plans to reunify the families, mentioning neither how or when this would be achieved.

The draft, titled 'Policy Options to Respond to Border Surge of Illegal Immigration', also discusses significantly increasing prosecutions of parents of family units who cross the border together.

It was noted that any 'increase in prosecutions would be reported by the media and it would have a substantial deterrent effect.'

In June 2017, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen wrote on Twitter that the administration did 'not have a policy of separating families at the border. Period.' Nielsen said the government was simply enforcing existing law.

'This misreporting by Members, press & advocacy groups must stop. It is irresponsible and unproductive,' Nielsen wrote.

'As I have said many times before, if you are seeking asylum for your family, there is no reason to break the law and illegally cross between ports of entry.'

In April 2018, President Trump announced a 'zero-tolerance' policy that resulted in 2,737 children being separated from their families, ABC reported.

But the figure is likely to be even higher, as a government investigators said in an internal report that 'thousands' more were likely to have been separated in 2017, before 'Zero tolerance' came info force.

The Health and Human Services inspector general said that real figure is 'unknown.'

DHS Spokeswoman Katie Waldman in a statement reported by NBC: 'The Trump administration has made clear that all legal options are on the table to enforce the rule of law, rein in mass unchecked illegal immigration, and defend our borders.

'In December of 2017, we saw the number of apprehensions increasing as a result of the Flores Settlement Agreement, the Trafficking Victims Protection Act, and a lack of physical barrier on the Southern Border.'

'In part we were predicting — and trying to prevent — the exact humanitarian and security crisis we are confronted by now,' said Waldman.

'It would be malpractice to not seriously examine every single avenue to gain operational control of the border and ensure that those who are entering our country have a legal right to be here.'

The 'zero tolerance' policy was revoked by the President via an executive order in June 2018.

The idea to issue children expedited removal orders en masse, or systematically deport those who had been separated from their parents, did not become policy.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
