Thirteen years after she released her hit 'Boyfriend,' Ashlee Simpson has finally confirmed that the song's lyrics are about Lindsay Lohan and Wilmer Valderrama.
The 33-year-old singer dished about the inspiration behind the song while playing 'Plead the Fifth' on Watch What Happens Live — and she once again insisted that she didn't steal Lindsay's boyfriend.
When host Andy Cohen asked if the lyrics 'I didn't steal your boyfriend' were about Lindsay and Wilmer, Ashlee's husband, Evan Ross, jokingly interjected: 'I think I know the answer.'

Out with it: Ashlee Simpson, 33, confirmed on Watch What Happens Live that her 2005 song 'Boyfriend' was about Lindsay Lohan and Wilmer Valderrama
He knows! Ashlee was joined by her husband, Evan Ross, who joked that he knew the answer to host Andy Cohen's question about the song
Confirmation: 'I hung out with him first, and I wasn't interested in him at that point,' Ashlee told Andy, once again insisting that she didn't steal him from Lindsay
Andy also asked Ashlee to characterize her relationship with Lindsay, but she had nothing but nice things to say about the actress.
'Yeah, I mean, I hung out with him first, and I wasn't interested in him at that point,' Ashlee replied. 'And we're great. All is well. By the way, they’re the best.'
After Andy clarified that the song's lyrics were indeed about Ashlee 'not stealing him from Lindsay,' the reality star agreed.
'I didn’t [steal Wilmer]. I was done. But all love here,' she said.
Ashlee and Evan, 30, were on the talk show promoting their new E! reality series Ashlee+Evan, and she had no problem coming clean about the song.
However, when 'Boyfriend' first came out, she adamantly denied rumors that it was about Lindsay.
Back in the day: Lindsay, 32, famously dated Wilmer, 38, in 2004 (pictured)
Throwback: In 2005, Wilmer was linked to Ashlee, but they both denied she had anything to do with his breakup with Lindsay
Listen up: In the music video for 'Boyfriend,' Ashlee sings: 'I didn't steal your boyfriend'
'It's not about one person in particular, it's just something every girl can relate to,' she told MTV in 2005. 'It's a song about [how] every girl out there sometimes thinks you stole her boyfriend. It's just making fun of that.'
Ashlee slightly changed her tune while speaking with Ryan Seacrest that year, telling him that she did date Wilmer, but the song was her 'kind of making fun of something' she had gone through.
'It's very junior high, high school, college, and whatnot, the situation,' she said, but she refused to say who the song was about.
Wilmer, 38, famously dated Lindsay, 32, in 2004, but their relationship only lasted a few months. A year later, he was linked to Ashlee, but he insisted she didn't have anything to do with his breakup with Lindsay.
'We’ve been friends for about five and a half years,' he told People in 2005. 'All of a sudden we couldn’t be in the same room before people were saying we were making out.'
Out and about: Ashlee and Evan were spotted outside the AOL Build Series studio in New York on Wednesday
Style: Ashlee modeled an oversized black blazer with floral applique and straight-leg jeans
Everything appears to have worked out for Ashlee, who married Evan in 2015, the same year they welcomed their daughter, Jagger. The mother-of-two also has a nine-year-old son, Bronx, with her ex-husband, Pete Wentz.
Ashlee and Evan are slated to release their first single on Friday, and they were spotted outside the AOL Build Series studio in New York on Wednesday.
The blonde beauty wore her hair in a messy up do and modeled an oversize black blazer featuring a floral applique.
She paired the statement blazer with straight-leg jeans and black ankle-strap sandals. Evan looked just as stylish in a red sweatshirt, black cropped pants, and black buckled shoes.
The two were all smiles as they posed for photos together outside the studio.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
