It was a big night for Green Book at the Golden Globes, winning three awards on Sunday night, the most of any movie.
The film won Best Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy, with writers Nick Vallelonga, Bryan Currie and Peter Farrelly winning Best Screenplay and Mahershala Ali winning his first Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in any Motion Picture for his role as famed pianist 'Doc' Don Shirley.
The 44-year-old actor, who won an Oscar in the same category at the Oscars in 2017 for Moonlight, used his acceptance speech at the Beverly Hilton Hotel to thank the women in his life.

'I have to thank my wife, my mother, and my grandmother,' Ali said. 'I thank you for your prayers. I've needed each and every one of them. Peace.'
He also paid tribute to his 'extraordinary scene partner', Viggo Mortensen and praised his other co-star Linda Cardellini as a 'beautiful person', as well as thanking director Peter Farrelly.
Green Book has been hit by a backlash from Shirley's real life family, who have insisted the portrayal of the musician is inaccurate, and Mahershala defended the movie backstage at the ceremony.

'I will say this, my job is always the same: I have to look at what I am doing and be responsible for it.'
The actor went on to stress how he and everyone else who worked on the movie had put a lot of energy into the project and he doesn't want to 'throw away' what they have done.
'I respect the family ... and Doc Shirley. I spoke to the studio and the family and at the end of the day you wish everyone was happy and you don't want to offend anyone in any capacity.'

After winning Best Picture - Comedy or Musical, director and co-writer Peter Farrelly urged audiences to learn from the movie, which follows the unlikely friendship between jazz musician 'Doc' Don Shirley and his Italian-American driver and bodyguard Tony Vallelonga.
'All we have to do is talk and not judge people by their differences,' the filmmaker said. 'We all want the same thing.'
'Don Shirley was a great man and underappreciated,' Farrelly said in part, of one of the movie's real-life inspirations. 'He couldn't play the music he wanted to play simply because of the color of his skin.'
Yet, he added: 'He went on to create his own genre of music; it sounds so beautiful that it still resonates today. Tony Vallelonga came from an immigrant family in the Bronx and from a culture didn't value diversity or individuality, yet during that trip with Don Shirley, he grew and evolved more than most families do over several generations.

'This story, when I heard it, gave me hope, and I wanted to share that hope with you, because we're still living in divided times, maybe more so than ever,' Farrelly added.
Screenwriter Nick Vallelonga is the son of Tony Vallelonga, who co-wrote the script with Bryan Currie and Peter Farrelly, using his acceptance speech to thank his late father for his story.
'My father blessed us with this story,' Vallelonga said. 'I can't thank you enough. This is surreal.'
Green Book beat out other Best Motion Picture - Comedy or Musical nominees, Crazy Rich Asians, The Favourite, Mary Poppins Returns and Vice.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
