William Thompson Sr., Brooklyn's first African American State Senator, has died at the age of 94 



William Thompson Sr., Brooklyn's first African American State Senator and father to former city Comptroller Bill Thompson, has died at the age of 94. 


A member of the state Senate from 1965 to 1968, Thompson Sr. was also a member of the City Council before he became an associate justice of the Appellate Division of the State Supreme Court. 


The Harlem native had also sworn in his son, back in 2002. 


'As a judge and the first African American state senator from Brooklyn, William C. Thompson Sr. stood up against racism and injustice in our city for decades,' said Mayor Bill de Blasio. 


'We send our deepest condolences to his son Bill, his daughter Gail and all his family and loved ones.'


The sentiment was shared by Governor Andrew Cuomo.

He stated: 'William Thompson, Sr. spent a lifetime of service to New York. 'He was a trailblazer and our thoughts are with his family.'


'I spent time with Judge William Thompson and his family during his last birthday this year,' added Borough President of Brooklyn, Eric Adams. 

'I am going to miss his wit and humor, but old photos like this one remind me of the many laughs and good times we shared together.'


According to the New York Post, news of the politician's death first broke Monday.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
