«Breaking News» Mothers reveal how they avoid moving Elf on the Shelf every day

Mothers from all over the country are sharing the clever Elf on the Shelf situations they've created to avoid moving the Christmas doll every day  — and let's just say there are a lot of elves with broken bones this year.

Three years ago, Courtney Davis Boles shared a photo of her children's Elf on the Shelf wearing a cast on his leg, explaining that he had 'strict orders from Santa not to move for two weeks.' Boles called it a 'parenting win,' and many agreed.

The mom behind the Crafty Morning Facebook page posted Courtney's photo on Sunday, prompting other mothers to reveal the sneaky ways they've gotten out of moving the Elf on the Shelf in their own homes.

Brianne Rich shared a photo of her elf wearing a homemade cast and sling while sitting propped up next to a handwritten letter.

'Hey guys, sorry I was late. I had a little trouble with Rudolph. I don't want to talk about it. All I will say is there is a reason no one laughs and calls him names anymore,' read the note, which was signed 'Woody.'

The mom explained she came up with the idea after her children 'wanted to know why he was so late showing up.'

Many other parents posted snapshots of their elves healing from injuries, but Tami Michelle Hendrix Randolph had a heartwarming reason for putting her Elf on the Shelf in a sling.

'My son broke his arm at his birthday party. He had to have 2 titanium rods put in last Monday!' she explained. 'So Elfie has a broke arm too so my [son] will feel better about his.'

When Lori MacIntyre feigned her elf's injuries, she put him on their Christmas tree next to an angel ornament.

'Emma wondered if the elf would be coming this year...yup...complete with her very own nurse!' she joked.

Broken limbs appear to be the most popular excuse for not moving the elves, but some parents took a slightly different approach.

One mom stuck two of her elves in a jar behind a note that read: 'We are disappointed that you had trouble listening yesterday. So for today we have to stay in a jar. We hope you behave so we can come out to play.'

The clever letter was signed 'Elfie' and 'Elfa.'

Clever: One parent gave her kids' Elf on the Shelf a letter explaining his 'promotion' along with a 'Santa Cam' that would help him keep his eye on them while he was away

Another elf went 'on strike' and carried a sign that said: 'Will not work for naughty kids.'

Someone else shared a photo of an army doll waterboarding an elf over the kitchen sink, though it was likely a joke and not an actual scenario the person was recommending.

Not all the excuses involved injuries or misbehaving children though. One parent cleverly gave her kids' Elf on the Shelf a letter explaining his 'promotion' along with a 'Santa Cam' that would help him keep his eye on them while he was away.

'This year is very busy for me!  I am graduating to a Senior Elf! That means I get to work IN the Toy Shop! MAKING TOYS!! I am so excited!' read the letter.

'Bad news though, I will not be able to make it every night. I have a lot of studying to do. I hope you understand!' the elf added.

'But Santa gave me this Santa cam to place here, I will be monitoring it from the North Pole! Santa can also check in from his computer!

'P.S. don't move the camera. I have it set up perfectly!'

Christy Heins, meanwhile, decided to put her Elf on the Shelf in retirement, meaning she would never have to move him around again.

She took to Facebook last year to share a photo of her family's Elf on the Shelf enjoying a cocktail next to a palm tree.

'George Elf has been our elf on the shelf for the past three years, but after a short career, we are congratulating him on his retirement,' she wrote.

'I know that some people truly enjoy setting up elaborate scenes with their elf, but for me, cleaning up after 3 children and a dog is enough.'

The mom wrote her three children a letter announcing George's retirement, and she shared a photo of it on Facebook so other parents could adopt it for themselves.

The official-looking letter 'From the Desk of Santa Clause' explained that George's Christmas wish was to become a real toy in their house.

'He knows that once you touch him, he will lose his magic to be able to fly and that's okay!' 'Santa' wrote. 'That's what he really wants! He wants you to play with him and treat him like a member of the family from now until Christmas.

'I will pick him up when I visit your house on Christmas Eve and he will ride back to the North Pole in my sleight to spend the rest of the year with his elf family.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
