«Breaking News» Mel B gives the camera the middle finger whilst posing with her fellow Spice Girls for a cheeky snap

She's known as the fierce and feisty member of the Spice Girls.

And, Mel B proved she's 'that friend' as she took to Instagram on Thursday to share a cheeky snap of herself giving the camera the middle finger and sticking out her tongue, whilst sitting with her fellow Spice Girls.

In the group shot, the women are sat around a table with Geri Horner smiling sweetly beside the America's Got Talent judge, 43, while Mel C winks and pulls tongues, and Emma Bunton peeks a smile into the edge of the picture.

The four Spice Girls were gathered around a table full of paper work and plans, inside The Langham hotel in London.

Mel captioned the sassy group snap: 'Yep I'm "that friend" always and forever hahaha #lookingoutformygirls #keepingitreal #girlgroup #forlife #spicegirls.'

The Spice Girls are currently preparing for their reunion concerts - scheduled to begin in Cardiff on May 27.

Original member Victoria Beckham AKA Posh Spice will not be joining them on tour, but last week hinted she could make a surprise appearance on stage with her bandmates during an interview on Good Morning America.

The fashion designer, 44, revealed keen fans will have to wait and see whether she'll join her fellow Spice Girls for a guest performance.

Former American footballer Michael, 47, asked: 'You won't be tempted to get up there and give a little something something?'

Teasing her decision, the wife of former Manchester United ace David replied: 'Well, I mean, I don't know... Let's see.

'I'll always be a Spice Girl and I'm so proud of everything I achieved. I’m proud of them.'

Throwing her support behind her former bandmates, the mother-of-four continued: 'It's gonna be the best show – I can't wait to take my kids and see it.

'But, with my business now I just wouldn’t be able to do it. But I wish them so much luck and love and it’s gonna be great. And in spirit, I will absolutely be there with them.'

Their Spice World 2019 tour sold out in minutes, prompting the group to add extra dates due to 'phenomenal demand'. The iconic '90s girlband were overwhelmed with excitement at the tour's success and declared they have 'the best fans in the world'.

Mel B's cheeky snap also comes after claims that the group turned down an '£80 million offer to tour America' over fears it may cause 'tension' between the bandmates.

A source told The Sun that Mel B, Geri Horner, Mel C and Emma Bunton could have banked millions from a tour of top US stadiums but decided against that and producing new music together.

They added: 'The UK shows will be massive and very special so they are apprehensive about doing more in the US because they know from experience how long stints together on the road can cause tensions.

'They all have families who they need to consider, they aren’t single women who can drop everything and go.

'And in terms of new music as a group, they are all in various stages of relaunching their solo careers, which makes it very unlikely.'

«Breaking News» How you could save 18 teaspoons of sugar A DAY with nutritionist's simple tweaks

Simple tweaks in recipes could save you copious teaspoons of sugar per day.

Adults in the UK are consuming more than double the recommended amount of sugar, according to Public Health England.

But our favourite sugary treats aside, sugars are often hidden in surprising foods such as pasta sauces and soups.

Nutritionist Angela Dowden, spear-heading Cancer Research UK's Sugar Free February, reveals how you can cut back while still enjoying a tasty diet.

Nutritionist Angela Dowden, spear-heading Cancer Research UK's Sugar Free February, reveals how you can cut back on sugar in foods such as hot chocolate

Added sugars - different to natural sugars in foods such as fruit or milk - should make up no more than five per cent of calorie intake per day.

This equates to around 30g or seven cubes of sugar a day in line with government advice.

'Sugar can easily tally up in our diets as many of our favourite foods contain a surprising amount of hidden sugar,' Ms Dowden said.

HOW MUCH SUGAR IS TOO MUCH?

The amount of sugar a person should eat in a day depends on how old they are.

Children aged four to six years old should be limited to a maximum of 19 grams per day.

Seven to 10-year-olds should have no more than 24 grams, and children aged 11 and over should have 30g or less.

Popular snacks contain a surprising amount of sugar and even a single can of Coca Cola (35g of sugar) or one Mars bar (33g) contains more than the maximum amount of sugar a child should have over a whole day.

A bowl of Frosties contains 24g of sugar, meaning a 10-year-old who has Frosties for breakfast has probably reached their limit for the day before they even leave the house.

Children who eat too much sugar risk damaging their teeth, putting on fat and becoming overweight, and getting type 2 diabetes which increases the risk of heart disease and cancer.

'Reducing your sugar intake can help you to manage your weight by helping to remove 'empty calories' from the diet – it's also much better for your teeth.'

WHAT ARE THE LINKS BETWEEN SUGAR AND CANCER?

Cutting out sugar doesn't help treat cancer, and sugar doesn't directly cause cancer.

However, there are indirect links between the two.

Eating lots of sugar over time can cause you to gain weight, and scientific evidence shows that being overweight or obese increases the risk of 13 different types of cancer, including, breast, bowel, oesophageal and pancreatic tumours, according to Cancer Research UK.

Obesity is the single biggest preventable cause of cancer after smoking.

Almost three quarters (72 per cent) of the UK population will be overweight or obese by 2035, meaning obesity could cause a further 670,000 cases of cancer in the UK over the next 20 years.

It's not clear how carrying extra weight causes cells to become cancerous, but it's likely down to the chemical signals that are released from the extra body fat.

Some body fat is essential. It's our back-up energy store and it makes chemical signals that help keep our bodies in check. But when we have too much body fat, it can have harmful effects.

Extra fat we carry releases hormones and other growth-promoting signals around our bodies. It also causes inflammation, effecting how often our cells divide. These changes in cell division that are most likely behind the increased risk of cancer.

WHAT ARE THE TEN WAYS TO CUT BACK ON FREE SUGARS AND BEAT CRAVINGS?

1. Always check the label

The front of pack labelling on foods shows the amount of sugar in the product so opt for those with green or amber traffic light colours.

2. Understand sugar in the ingredient list

The front of pack labelling is a little misleading as it represents all sugars in the product. You can look at the ingredient list to get a better idea of any free sugars they contain.

Free sugars come in many guises but as a rule of thumb look for anything that ends in 'ose' (sucrose, glucose, fructose) as well as any healthier sounding alternatives, such as raw sugar, barley malt, maple syrup, coconut nectar, palm sugar, agave nectar, date sugar and brown rice syrup. These are all classed as free sugars.

3. Sweet food swaps

Try sweetening foods with fresh or dried fruit and if you are looking for a sweet snack then opt for those that are fruit-based.

WHAT DAMAGE IS SUGAR DOING?

Excess sugar in the diet is linked to a variety of health risks, and the effects in the UK diet are evident in recent research.

Teeth: The NHS spending data showing that there were 42,911 hospital procedures to remove multiple teeth from patients aged 18 and under in 2016-17 at a cost of more than £36 million, according to Dr Uchenna Okoye, a spokesperson for the BDA and a dentist at London Smiling.

Heart disease: A high-sugar diet was associated with a greater risk of dying from heart disease in a study published in JAMA Internal Medicine. The researchers also found that the higher your intake of sugar the greater your risk of developing heart disease.

Too much sugar in the diet can also raise blood pressure and encourage inflammation in the body, which are also risk factors for heart disease.

Diabetes: High amounts of sugar can overload the liver where it's converted into fat. Over time fat can accumulate and increase the risk of fatty liver disease, which is a contributor to diabetes - also a risk factor for heart disease.

Weight gain: Excess free sugars in the diet also promote weight gain, which is a risk factor for many other diseases.

Dr Meg Arroll, psychologist on behalf of Healthspan and co-author of The Shrinkology Solution said: 'Free sugars also have an addictive-like effect on the brain, triggering our internal reward system – this means that the more we have, the more we want, so it's important to be aware of which foods contain these sugars in order to take control of our eating habits.'

A slice of malt loaf has a quarter of the sugar content and twice the fibre of a chocolate cookie.

4. Include a source of protein with every meal

Protein is very satiating, which means it can help to keep you feeling full between meals and lessen the desire to snack.

Partner your proteins with health fats (olive oil, avocado, nuts and seeds), fibre (wholegrains) and plenty of vegetables for maximum satiety.

Examples include eggs and spinach on wholegrain toast for breakfast or a grain-based chicken salad with seeds.

5. Explore your spice rack

You can substitute sugar or at least some of the sugar you add to foods and drinks with sweet spices such as ground ginger, allspice, nutmeg and cinnamon.

These spices can be added to hot beverages and smoothies or sprinkled over porridge and yoghurt in place of sweeteners such as sugar or honey.

6. Ditch sugary drinks

Soft drinks are one of the biggest offenders when it comes to free sugar in the diet and this is not just fizzy drinks but energy drinks, fruit juices, iced teas and coffees.

If you want a fizzy soft drink then maybe opt for something sugar-free; you can also flavour sparkling water with fruits, vegetables and herbs such as lemons, limes, strawberries, mint, cucumber, rosemary, fresh ginger and basil.

7. Try chromium supplements

This mineral has been shown to help manage blood glucose (sugar) as part of something called the glucose tolerance factor (GTF).

This factor increases the effectiveness of insulin, which is a hormone that helps to control blood sugar levels by transporting glucose into cells.

Chromium also helps the body to process the carbohydrates, fats and proteins in the foods we eat.

While the research is not conclusive, many people find chromium supplements a useful way to reduce sugar cravings by taking with meals.

8. Keep yourself busy

'Idle hands make for the devil's work' so the saying goes. It's thought that the desire for something sweet after you have eaten stems from childhood.

Evenings are when many people crave something sweet so keep treats out of the house and fill your time by going out for a walk, doing something around the house or having a nice bath with a good book rather than flopping in front of the TV with a family pack of minstrels.

9. Chew on gum

Chewing gum has been shown to help with sweet cravings so keep a pack to hand and obviously go for something that's sugar-free.

10. Take time to relax

Stress can lead to cravings and a desire to seek out sweet comfort foods. Try to adopt other ways to manage your stress rather than relying on food.

The mineral magnesium helps to relax the body and can be found in foods such as nuts, seeds and even a little high-cocoa dark chocolate, which is also rich in the compounds phenylethylamine that acts as mild mood booster.

«Breaking News» Woman who filmed aftermath of Dallas cop who shot neighbor says she is getting death threats

The woman who filmed the aftermath of a Dallas cop fatally shooting her neighbor has spoken out to describe the death threats she received after publishing the video.

Bunny, as she asked to be identified, spoke with Advise Media Network about the September 6, 2018 shooting of 26-year-old Botham Jean by 30-year-old police officer Amber Guyger.

Guyger, who is white, said she believed she was walking into her own apartment when she entered the apartment of Jean, a black St. Lucia native, one floor directly above her residence.

In the interview, Bunny said she heard two gunshots and a man shout asking why he had been shot, before she rushed outside and began filming about 60 seconds after the shooting.

Amber Guyger (left) is charged with murder after shooting Botham Jean (right) in the apartment complex that they both lived in

Bunny captured Guyger pacing the balcony and frantically making a phone call, which Bunny said she didn't think sounded like a 911 call but rather a personal call.

'It was just a lot of crying, a lot of hysterics,' Bunny said. 'She was just pacing back-and-forth for at least seven minutes, according to my video.'

Guyger, who had just gotten off a 15-hour shift, was off duty but in uniform when she entered Jean's apartment, claiming that she mistook it for her own.

She said that the door was unlocked and ajar, and that she saw a dark silhouette that she believed was a burglar. She said she fired after the person didn't obey her commands.

Bunny said that she didn't believe Gugyer could have mistaken the fourth floor, where Jean lived, for the third floor.

The witness said that there were markings showing the floor number that she doesn't believe Guyger would have missed. Bunny also didn't think it was possible that the apartment's fire doors, which swing shut automatically, could have been propped open.

Bunny said that she decided to post the video after hearing reports of the shooting that she didn't believe matched what she had witnessed.

She posted the video online and shared it with prosecutors, and received numerous visits from investigators that she felt were harassing.

Bunny claimed that she got intense backlash online after sharing the video.

'I did get a few threats from people saying they weren't gonna leave any witnesses behind, telling me I need to watch my back, things like that,' she said.

Bunny also said that people began contacting the pharmaceutical company where she worked claiming that she was a 'radical,' 'anti-police' and 'a black extremist.'

The harassing messages led the company to fire her because they didn't want to be involved in the controversy, Bunny claims.

Bunny also claimed that the company had her 'blacklisted' by revoking her credentials. Her claims could not be independently verified.

Guyger was fired from the Dallas Police Department on September 24 and initially charged with manslaughter in the case.

On November 30, a grand jury brought back an indictment for murder. Guyger was arrested but quickly freed on $200,000 bond.

She has appeared in court twice for the case, most recently on Tuesday, but a judge has imposed a strict gag order on Gugyer and her attorneys, prohibiting them from speaking publicly about the case.

'I said to Richard while we were shooting, "This is like James Bond!"' she recalled. 'I would love to see Richard playing James Bond; I would love that. I think he would be phenomenal.'

Madden is the latest in a long line of actors to be connected with Bond following Craig's decision to give up the role some 15-years after making his debut in Casino Royale.

Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, Aidan Turner and James Norton have also been linked with the role, but Madden has emerged as front-runner following his appearance as protection command bodyguard Sergeant David Budd.

Speaking in 2018, the actor - whose found fame as the doomed Robb Stark in Game Of Thrones - admitted he was honoured to be associated with Bond.

'This is what happens with all these shows, like Tom Hiddelston in The Night manager. Then there's the next one. I'm the next one,' he told GQ

'I'm more than flattered to be mentioned, for people to consider putting me in that role. I'm very flattered and thankful. It's a really brilliant thing to be in. I don't want to curse anything by saying anything.'

However Madden may well make another appearance as Budd in the second series of Bodyguard before the Broccoli family make a final decision regarding the next Bond.

A second series is said to be 'very much on the cards,' but Hawes insists hr own character, Home Secretary Julia Montague, will definitely not be returning.

The Conservative politician was dramatically killed in a bomb blast, but fans are still convinced she somehow survived the enormous explosion - despite Hawes confirming her departure on social media.

'Every day I'm surprised by how many people ask me if I'm still alive!' she said. 'It's extraordinary, and completely unexpected.

'I tweeted, "Thanks very much, I had a great time on the show," and (show creator) Jed gave an interview to Radio Times and explained why my character had been killed off, so it wasn't really a case of keeping my mouth shut as it was with Line of Duty, when we were having fun playing the game. It wasn't at all.'

She added: 'We'd been quite frank and honest and open about it, but it seemed to be something that people – people wanted the character to be alive. Which is very flattering, thank you very much!'

The latest edition of Radio Times is out now.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.

«Breaking News» JAN MOIR: Russell Brand banning tickling IS a joke!

Russell Brand approaches his pronouncements on fatherhood in the same way a holy man approaches the pulpit; utterly convinced of the ineluctable rightness of his sermon.

This week, the dad demagogue announced he wants tickling children to be outlawed until they’re old enough to consent. He has vowed he will punch anyone who does it to his daughters because it ‘violates their space’.

‘Would you do it to an adult? Would you insert your rigid fingers into their belly or their armpits? Of course not,’ he roars.

The point is, who does? I’d never go around randomly tickling stray children and I can’t think of anyone who would who is not already in jail. Affectionate uncles and aunts or grandparents might get a little tickle on now and again, in a fit of familial affection. Yet any time I’ve seen them do so, the tots have always gurgled and squealed with utter delight.

The point is that they are babies, in the loving embrace of their family, where being cuddled and held is an important part of their physical and emotional development.

Seeing sexualisation (‘rigid fingers’) and harm where none is intended, while assuming that tiny children need the protection of sophisticated adult hegemonies just causes more damage than it seeks to prevent.

Last year, a sexuality expert said parents should ask their baby’s permission before changing their nappy, in order to establish ‘a culture of consent’. How does that work? Apparently, you look junior in the eye and wait until the poor mite gives some sort of non-verbal signal that it’s OK to proceed with Operation Poopy Pants.

Brand’s stance is, as an example of modern, enlightened parenthood, up there with Cinderella’s father convincing himself his new wife and her two lovely daughters will be just the tonic little Cinders needs.

Or Les Miserables’ Fantine deciding to leave little Cosette with those nice innkeepers, the Thenardiers. How is that going to set a good example?

Especially in a world where two years into dadhood and exultant as the proud father of Mabel (two) and Peggy (six months), Brand has yet to change a nappy at all, or make any meaningful contribution to the daily childcare routine. He leaves all that to wife Laura because he is just too zen, too important, too into himself to do that sort of thing.

He told a newspaper: ‘Laura’s able to sustain domesticity in a way that’s astonishing. I didn’t have much experience of how to organise domesticity. I do whatever I’m told. It turns out she is extremely well-versed in the nuances and complexities of child-rearing.’

He added that he was ‘too sensitive’ to change nappies and that his ‘romantic, reflective, religious world view’ prevents him from being a full-time parent.

Russell doesn’t sweat the small stuff. He concentrates on the big issues. He floats the big thoughts. And that is where the problem starts.

Before his daughters were born, he said he was going to bring them up gender neutral. How very modish, but how can that happen now, in a household run on the worst kind of old-fashioned gender lines — Mum the drudge does everything while dad the hero swans about being eminent?

You might expect this sort of non-interventionist behaviour from someone like father-of-six and volunteer Edwardian Jacob Rees Mogg (‘No, I’m not a modern man’). Yet in a world where even Prince William gets his hands dirty, so to speak, can Russell Brand even have an excuse?

The problem is that Russell has always seen himself as a superior being beyond censure, someone for whom the normal terms and conditions of life do not apply. Do as I say, not as I do.

While he many have given up being a junkie sex god, he’s clinging onto his arrogance; ramping up the messianic certitude he once turned on banks and democracy, with every word lapped up by his 10 million online followers.

Is parenthood going to be his new gateway to cult hero status? Dear God, let us hope not.

More on the ticklish tickling issue. ‘It is an attempt to subvert the child’s bodily autonomy, to take away their right to their own space and peace,’ he fumed.

Russell is a changed man these days, so perhaps it is unfair to bring up Andrew Sachs’s right to space and peace, or the violated space of his granddaughter who he claimed to have slept with.

It has been more than ten years since that prank call to the Fawlty Towers star, yet the impression lingers that underneath the chi-chi tai chi posturing, the juicing and the acupuncture appointments, all Russell cares about is himself and his giddy pronouncements.

He is still like an ambitious critter who crawled into the ear canal of British life and won’t stop buzzing until our heads explode. A beetle who wants to be a Beatle, to make an impact, and be bigger than Jesus or else. Help.

You might have thought being a parent is exhausting, but Russell Brand being a parent is exhausting in a more profound way than anyone could have imagined.

 Staffies?I thought we loved Labs

How on earth did Staffies become Britain’s most loved breed of dog? They might be lovely, but we are a labrador nation, by temperament and inclination. Always have been, always will be.

At a push, let’s hear it for our eternal devotion to the West Highland terrier, the real monarch of the glen. Elsewhere, people are lovers of spaniels, champions of mongrels, devotees of tiny terriers —but Staffies? Twenty years ago, a muscle-bound hulk like a Staffie wouldn’t have had a look in — what happened?

The Staffordshire bull terrier (file picture) was once seen as a bit of a chavvy dog

Like all things in British public life, it all boils down to class. The Staffordshire bull terrier was once seen as a bit of a chavvy dog, beloved of young men who wanted a macho accessory the way some women want a fluffy teacup dog to accentuate their femininity.

Now, Staffies have somehow overturned their reputation for occasional viciousness.

Of course, there are no bad dogs, just bad owners.

But having to pretend that we all adore these canine thugs makes me feel rather hangdog, to say the least.

A golden girl who puts the Gere in the shade

It has been a marvellous week for golden oldies — but only if you happen to be a woman, of course.

By some miracle performed by the gods, model Christie Brinkley celebrated her 65th, above, but still manages to look half her age.

Yasmin Le Bon, 54, went to a party looking exactly like she did in 1985, while 73-year-old Helen Mirren wore a long leather skirt to a TV interview — and looked fabulous. Wish I could say the same for Richard Gere, 69, inset, who popped up in a trailer for his new BBC series, MotherFatherSon.

At least I think it was Richard. With odd, shimmering pools of highlighter under his eyes and a rather taut expression, I thought Richard had had more than a touch of the Tilda Swinton about him. Is that entirely a good look for a sexagenarian? You tell me.

Even out in the cold, Meghan's style sizzles

Hard to think of any woman in public life who’s achieved such stunning levels of pregnancy sartorial style as the Duchess of Sussex. Primarily by not wearing any actual maternity clothes. There is a message here somewhere.

On Tuesday, at the National Theatre, she was dressed head-to-toe in a clinging peach outfit, complete with strappy cocktail heels and a tiny Carolina Herrera minaudière. It was fabulous, even if more suited to a spring wedding in Capri than a winter’s day in London.

Yesterday, at the Association of Commonwealth Universities, she wore funeral black, including the same coat she wore on Remembrance Sunday. A frilly cocktail dress peeped out underneath.

Only a duchess with a palace-to-pavement lifestyle could wear ice cream colours in Central London. In January. Only a young woman with her own mind could wear black to an official engagement, when it breaks every traditional directive in the royal rulebook.

But I love that about Meghan.

I love her pared-down look, which is modern and appealing. I love that she wears what she wants, while convention can go hang. And I love that she doesn’t pretend, with the judicious deployment of Zara accessories and High Street frocks, that she is being thrifty or ordinary or just like us.

We’re not idiots. She has married into one of the richest families on the planet. Her clothes are expensive, super luxe, gorgeous. She wears her heart on her sleeve, in more ways than one.

In a world of frilly artifice, her sharply tailored honesty is to be admired. And she is not coming down to earth with her bump any time soon.

Lovebirds are out of step

It’s all kicking off on the Strictly Come Dancing tour 2019. And not in a can-can way.

Lovebirds Joe Sugg and Dianne Buswell (pictured) have fallen out with their co-stars in a big way. Lost in the haze of new romance, their constant kisses are annoying everyone. Get a ballroom!

Lovebirds Joe Sugg and Dianne Buswell (pictured) have fallen out with their co-stars in a big way

However, perhaps the dancers are even more annoyed that the audience vote Joe and Dianne winners at every show.

Now the lovebirds have moved out of the £86-a-night Hilton tour digs into more luxurious accommodation — and everyone is even more annoyed.

But excuse me — an £86 Hilton? Who says the Strictly stars are not living the dream?

There is so much to admire about Labour MP for Birmingham Yardley, Jess Phillips, but so much that grates, too. Jess likes to wear her working-class credentials as a badge of honour, something that gives her an edge of moral superiority. This week, she was insisting that there were no problems living in areas of high migration, like Birmingham.

‘It is a total pleasure to live in an area of high migration,’ she insisted, while castigating the ‘posh’ Tories she shares her workplace with. ‘I thought I had met posh people before I came here, but I had just met people who eat olives.’

If Jess really thinks that consuming olives is a matter of poshness, then perhaps she doesn’t mix as much in migrant communities as she claims.

Oh no! The coldest night of the year so far! Coldest! So far! What? Time for everyone to put a sock on their socks, calm down and turn up the heating. The coldest night of the year? We are barely into February, my friends.
