«Breaking News» Woman was not left stranded at Chicago's O'Hare airport overnight

American Airlines says a 67-year-old woman was not left stranded in a wheelchair for hours at a Chicago airport when her flight was canceled as her family had previously claimed.

Olimpia Warsaw, who has Parkinson's disease and diabetes, was due to fly out of Chicago's O'Hare International Airport on Friday night after attending her ex-husband's funeral.

Her flight to Detroit, Michigan was later canceled due to blizzard warnings in the Midwest.

Warsaw's son, Claude Coltea, told media outlets that the airport porter assigned to take care of his wheelchair-bound mother left her stranded in the airport for five hours because his shift had ended and he wanted to go home.

The family of Olimpia Warsaw, 67, had claimed she was left stranded at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport on Friday night after her flight was canceled. American Airlines has since released a detailed timeline of events that contradict the family's claims

American Airlines initially apologized to the family, refunded Warsaw's ticket and vowed to investigate the claims that she was abandoned in the terminal.

But after reviewing surveillance footage and multiple call records, the airline has since released a detailed timeline of events that contradict the family's initial story.

The footage, which the airline has not released publicly, apparently shows Warsaw using a walker to go outside the terminal twice to smoke while she waited for 45 minutes to be picked up by relatives.

Her son had earlier claimed that the family didn't know Warsaw was stranded until she failed to arrive in Detroit as scheduled.

Coltea said he had taken his mother to her airline gate on Friday night and her flight was still on time at that point. He left her at the gate and went to board his own flight home to Connecticut.

When her flight was canceled soon after, the airline printed Warsaw a hotel voucher and re-booked her on a flight scheduled for the following morning.

Her family claim that's when the porter left her stranded in the airport after refusing to take her to the hotel.

They claim they contacted American Airlines who supposedly couldn't locate Warsaw. The family said she was found by security officers several hours later.

However, the airline said phone records indicate that the wheelchair attendant spoke to Coltea at least twice as soon as his flight landed in Connecticut at 12.10am.

Records also show that Coltea then re-booked his mother on a flight leaving later on Saturday afternoon and said relatives would come to pick Warsaw up from the airport, according to the airline.

Surveillance video showed the wheelchair attendant dropping Warsaw off in a waiting area at 12.30am and a relative arriving at 1.13am to pick her up.

In that 45-minute time frame, the airline said surveillance showed Warsaw going outside with a walker twice to smoke a cigarette.

The airline said Warsaw was met outside by a female and male relative in a black SUV. The female entered the terminal while the male remained outside with the vehicle.

Minutes later, Warsaw also came back inside the terminal.

The female relative met Warsaw at the wheelchair waiting area about 30 minutes later and started pushing her towards the exit.

The woman then took a photo of Warsaw sitting in the wheelchair before leaving her alone again for several minutes as she flagged down a police officer.

After briefly speaking with the officer, the relative then pushed Warsaw to the waiting car and they left the airport at 1.53am.

In an interview with the Chicago Sun Times on Monday, Warsaw said: 'I was scared to death… there was nobody.'

Her son told the outlet that Warsaw was found in a hallway near a restroom.

'She figured if she stays in one place there's more likelihood that someone would help her,' Colteau said.

'All I want is… American to immediately reassess its processes for working with disabled people that have special needs. I doubt that someone would leave a 12-year-old child like that, but the truth is, an elderly person that has a disability has the same kind of needs.'

Olimpia Warsaw, who has Parkinson’s disease and diabetes, was due to fly out of Chicago’s O’Hare ...

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
