«Breaking News» U2 named the world's top earning musicians in 2018 by Forbes with $118million

It's a Beautiful Day — in fact it's been a beautiful year — for U2.

The Irish foursome have been named the world's highest earning musicians for 2018 by Forbes, having netted a staggering $118million.

'The immortal Irish rockers' Joshua Tree Tour — celebrating the 30th anniversary of the album of the same name — grossed $316 million, as some 2.7 million fans turned out to make it last year's most lucrative outing,' the site explained.

They managed to beat out Coldplay, who snagged second place with a not-too-shabby $115.5million.

The band's A Head Full Of Dreams Tour grossed more than half a billion dollars in its two-year, five-continent run, putting it behind only U2's 360 Tour and The Rolling Stones' A Bigger Bang Tour on the all-time list.

However, while U2 have to divide their cash four ways, and Coldplay five ways, the world third highest earning musician — Ed Sheeran — got to keep his $110million all to himself.

At just 27-years-old, his billions of song streamings made him the highest earning solo artist of the year.

Bruno Mars slotted into fourth place with his $100m, while Katy Perry's $83m put her in number five, the highest rank of any female artist on the list.

In fact it was one-time rival Taylor Swift who was her nearest competitor onle place behind her, having earned just $3million less.

However her hugely-popular Reputation tour was only getting started when the Forbes figures deadline of June 1 arrived.

Married: Jay-Z was in seventh with $76.5million, while his wife Beyonce — last year's number two — languished in 11th with a paltry $60million; of course the Carter's combined earnings for the year been considered they would have reigned well above all else with $135.5million

The rest of the top ten was rounded out by Guns N' Roses ($71 million), Roger Waters ($68 million) and — last year's number one — P Diddy ($64million).

Kendrick Lamar, The Weeknd, Pink, Lady Gaga and Calvin Harris all made the top twenty, while Drake, JLo, and The Chainsmokers were all top thirty.

Despite earning more than $30million last year, the likes of Rihanna nor Dr. Dre could crack the top thirty.

‘The immortal Irish rockers’ Joshua Tree Tour — celebrating the 30...

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
