«Breaking News» Stranded man rescued after setting fire on Tennessee mountain

A man stranded for three days on a mountain after crashing an all-terrain vehicle has been rescued after setting a fire that grew to 20 acres to draw rescuers to his location.

It took volunteer firefighters about three hours to reach the man on Bluff Mountain in Sevier County, who was suffering from hypothermia, a broken ankle and broken ribs.

Crews initially responded on Monday evening to the report of a blaze, Waldens Creek Fire Chief Tim Baker said.

The injured man made it to an ambulance at around 6.30am Eastern on Tuesday.

The man's current condition is not known at this time.

The report of the fire came in at around 7.30pm on Monday night, Baker told Knox News.

'They just saw a glow,' Baker said, of the people who reported the fire from about 6-7 miles away.

At least one Sevier County Rescue Squad member sustained injuries after being hit in the back by a falling tree limb while trying to get the man down from the mountain.

'It's a real treacherous, steep area,' Baker said.

The fire chief noted that he doesn't ever condone or advise setting a fire.

'But under the circumstances ... you do desperate things,' Baker said. 'Nobody was gonna wander through and find him.'

Damp conditions and calm winds kept the flames from spreading faster, Forestry spokesman Nathan Waters said.

Both Sevier County and Waldens Creek Volunteer Fire Department responded, WVLT reported.

The Waldens Creek Fire Department posted the following update on Facebook on Tuesday morning:

'Bluff Mountain Fire Update: as you may have already heard on the news, the Bluff Mountain Fire was started by a young man who was trapped deep in Bluff Mountain under an ATV.

'He started the fire in hopes that someone would see it and rescue him. Kroger from Wears Valley has generously donated water & Kroger Protein bars for those that are still up in the mountain. A Sevier County Rescue Squad member was injured as well, after a tree fell on him.

'The WCVFD helped bring him off the mountain, as well as the young man that was trapped under the ATV. Thank you Kroger! And Thank you Forestry Service.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
