«Breaking News» Pregnant Meghan Markle brings cheer to Royal Variety retirement home

The Duchess of Sussex looked elegant in a floral dress as she arrived for a solo engagement at a London care home on Tuesday.

Pregnant Meghan, 37, donned a £834 midi by LA-based label Brock Collection for the occasion, teaming it with a £550 grey wool coat by Canadian brand Soia & Kyo to keep her warm on the chilly winter's morning.

The former actress is on hand to bring Christmas cheer to retired entertainers at Brinsworth House, the Royal Variety Charity's residential nursing and care home in Twickenham.

The royal, who is expecting her first child with Prince Harry next spring, appeared in excellent spirits as she spoke to residents inside the property. When one told her they are 'all great friends', Meghan replied: 'I hope I can join the club'.

The visit comes amid speculation that the Duchess will soon be given her first royal patronage.

Last month the duchess and her husband attended the annual Royal Variety Show, one of the biggest fundraisers for charity, of which the Queen is patron, which assists those who have worked professionally in the entertainment industry and are in need of help and assistance as a result of old age, ill-health, or hard times.

Many of those who work in the entertainment industry can often work season to season, spending long periods with no work at all, and with little ability to make any plans for their futures, or to provide themselves with security should they have an accident or fall ill.

Money raised by the Royal Variety Charity, and through the annual Royal Variety Performance, helps and supports hundreds of retired entertainers throughout the UK.

Brinsworth House, which is owned and managed by the charity, accommodates up to 36 residents who are cared for by a dedicated team of nurses and care assistants.

Built in 1850, the care home has a number of lounges, a bar area, library, restaurant, television rooms, a hair salon - and even its own theatre.

The house is decorated throughout to emphasise its theatrical lineage, representing the many retired artists and entertainers who have been supported by the Royal Variety Charity.

Previous royal visits to Brinsworth House include Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother in 1990 and The Prince of Wales in 2002.

The visit has been designed to allow Meghan, who was starring in the hit US television drama Suits when she met Harry but gave up her career to marry him, to see first-hand how the charity cares for those who have spent their lives working in the entertainment industry.

On arrival, the Duchess will hear more from staff members about the history of Brinsworth House, before visiting some of the residential home’s facilities.

She will then join residents as they take part in Christmas-themed activities, including arts and crafts and carols around the Christmas tree.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
