Punk rock veteran Patti Smith has shared a sweet tribute to her close friend Ralph Fiennes as the actor turns 56 - leaving fans convinced that the celebrity pair are dating.
The American musician, 71, posted a candid snap of the English actor, film producer and director, to her Instagram with a gushing caption on Saturday.
'This is Ralph Fiennes. A poet’s son and poetry is his manner,' she wrote alongside the seemingly old photo.

The write continued: 'And poetry permeates the parts he plays. Happy birthday Ralph Fiennes, a fine man in every way.'
But the public well-wish quickly sent fans into meltdown, with Twitter users suggesting the snap confirmed Patti and Ralph's romantic relationship.
One wrote: 'Patti Smith wishing her boyfriend Ralph Fiennes a Happy Birthday on Instagram is the best thing I’ve seen all day.'

For at least the last nine years the two friends have attended many star-studded events together, with the singer accompanying the actor at his New York premiere of his hit film The Grand Budapest Hotel in 2014.

It comes after Fiennes was recognised for his work in the film industry at the 31st European Film Awards earlier this month.
The actor received the European Achievement in World Cinema award at the event in Seville, Spain, and he gave a moving, politically charged speech as he asked filmmakers to continue to 'celebrate our differences'.
As he received the honorary gong, he began: 'I’m afraid I wrote a long speech, not many jokes, but I am truly honoured to be here in this extraordinary, beautiful city which I too am in love with.
He added: 'There is arguably a crisis in Europe, and our feeling of family, of connection, of shared history, shared wounds, this feeling is being threatened by a discourse of division, tribal and reactionary vocabulary is among us.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
