«Breaking News» Olly Murs reveals his twin brother still refuses to speak to him

He is one of the X Factor’s most successful contestants to date, yet for Olly Murs, fame has come at a painful cost.

Speaking on ITV's Lorraine on Monday, the pop sensation, 34, revealed his twin brother, Ben, still refuses to talk to him after nearly a decade-long feud.

The singer's hopes of a reunion were further dashed after finding out his sibling had changed his phone number.

The pair fell out in 2009 after the singing sensation dropped out of being best man at Ben's wedding as it clashed with the talent show’s semi-finals.

But it isn’t only Olly who his brother has left behind, with Ben also distancing himself from his parents, as the Dear Darlin’ hitmaker admitted ‘Christmas has never been the same’ since.

Asked by host Lorraine Kelly if he'll ever heal the rift, Olly said: ‘I hope so, of course, it's mad because every year I think about it, (will it be) nine years, 10 years.

‘I did text him for his birthday but he changed his number. Christmas has never been the same.’

Olly previously told the Mirror: ‘It’s difficult, it’s sad and it always has been a touchy subject for me because it’s not just me and him, there are a lot of other people involved, [like] my mum.’

He went on to confess that he hoped that he would see his brother again 'one day'.

Ben, who took on his wife's last name after tying the knot with Amy Hart, described his brother as a 'self-obsessed sell-out' and said he never wanted to speak to him again after Olly failed to attend his wedding.

The X Factor finalist - who finished second to Joe McElderry in 2009 - was forced to remain at the show's north London studios, meaning he missed seeing Ben marry bride Amy on December 5.

Speaking of his wedding, Ben told the now defunct News of the World: 'Something was missing and that was Olly. It's clear people like Simon Cowell are more important to him than me.

'He's a self-absorbed sell-out. Our family was torn apart because of The X Factor. Things have got to the point where if I have children, I don't even want Olly to meet them.

'I watch my brother - the same person I shared a womb with - on TV now and it's like I don't even know who he is.'

At the time, Olly said he had hoped to still make the wedding, with his family hoping that Simon Cowell would step in and offer to charter a helicopter to allow the singer to make the short journey.

And while Ben said he understood his brother's desire to win the competition but was heartbroken he didn't tell him himself he wasn't going to be his best man.

'I kept reading how Olly had said he was 'gutted' he couldn't make it, but when the wedding came I had my mobile in my pocket all day hoping he would call or even text to say 'good luck' or 'congratulations'.

'I never heard from him. It was heartbreaking.'

Yet Olly has previously insisted that the feud goes beyond just missing the wedding.

Back in 2014 the Troublemaker singer told the Radio Times: 'His wedding was his excuse for not having me in his life any more. He got into a relationship with his now wife, and I don't think she ever liked us as a family.

'For 25 years of my life, I always came first in his life and he always came first in mine. I loved my brother to bits.

'Anything he needed or he wanted I'd do for him. But at that point in my life I was like, as much as I love him, I have to do this for myself, I have to change my life. I never expected him to react the way he did.'

The singer’s ...

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
