«Breaking News» James Baker breaks down during George H.W. Bush eulogy

Former Secretary of State James Baker has remembered his friend George H.W. Bush as having had 'the courage of a warrior but the greater courage of a peacemaker'.

Baker delivered an emotional eulogy at Bush's funeral at the St. Martin's Episcopal Church in Houston on Thursday just one day after breaking down during the national service in Washington.

The 41st president's longtime friend and confidant said he had been 'my friend and he's been my role model'.

Baker served Bush as White House chief of staff and secretary of state.

He began his eulogy with an apology.

Using the nickname 'Jefe', which is Spanish for 'boss', Baker said he was going to brag about Bush - even though the humble former president hated boasted.

Tilting his head up, Baker told Bush that he was 'about to do something you always hated and that your mother always told you not to do: brag about yourself.'

He went on to say that Bush never gloated when the Berlin wall fell and that he was without a doubt 'America's greatest one-term president' in history.

'My hope is that in remembering the life of George Herbert Walker Bush and in honoring his accomplishments, we will see that we are really praising what is best about our nation. The nation he dearly loved and whose values he embodied,' he said.

In praising his humility after the fall of the Berlin Wall, Baker said Bush understood that humility toward a fallen adversary 'is the very best path'.

'He was not considered a skilled speaker but his deeds were quite elegant,' Baker said.

Choking up, the man Bush called 'Bake' ended with a hat-tip to William Butler Yeats.

'Our glory, George was to have had you as our president and as such a friend,' he said.

Baker also broke down on Wednesday when Russell Levenson Jr. was recounting Bush's final hours.

Levenson told of how Baker had rubbed Bush's feet for 30 minutes to comfort him.

'There had been wonderful hugs and kind words throughout the day... Toward the end, we were sitting on the sofa and he whispered to me, 'you know, that man changed my life'," he told the mourners.

Baker was seen weeping as he listed to Levenson speak.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
