«Breaking News» Hot cross buns hit supermarket shelves just a day after Christmas

Hot cross buns have hit supermarket shelves in Australia just a day after Christmas - a full 116 days before Easter on April 21.

Shoppers were shocked or delighted - depending on their view on the topic - to be greeted by the fruity bread at the front of Coles on Wednesday.

Some people were excited to be able to eat them already, and for the next four months, while others were appalled at the consumerism.

The supermarket chain made no apology, proudly responding to customer queries about the buns' early arrival.

'Our customers and team members love hot cross buns so much that all of our supermarkets will have these delicious treats from early January,' it said.

'As some stores are keen for the delicious scent of freshly baked hot cross buns to fill the aisles, some will start baking them from Boxing Day for their customers.'

However, not everyone was impressed.

'Are you kidding? Hot cross buns already? We haven’t even finished 2018 yet!' one upset social media user wrote.

'On the 3rd day of Christmas consumerism gave to me 3 dozen hot cross buns,' another wrote.

'For Christ sakes he was just born yesterday! Do we have to crucify him already?' a third wrote.

Many others were pleased and posted photos of the buns on shelves saying they couldn't wait to tuck into them at home.

'Not sure why people complain when hot cross buns come out early! I wish they were on the shelves all year round,' one wrote.

'Why does everyone complain when supermarkets start stocking Hot Cross Buns a day after Christmas. The longer they're in stores the better,' another wrote.

'Hot cross buns cover a lot skills bakery apprentices need to learn, this is why they get started now (you might notice some are not as good as others, but by Easter they will all be perfect),' she wrote.

Woolworths was yet to put any hot cross buns out for sale but have planned to start selling them on January 2.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
