The family of murdered British backpacker Grace Millane have paid tribute to the 'beautiful' 22-year-old and revealed how she had a passion to see the world and even had a trip to the Far East planned.

Ms Millane's body was found by police on the outskirts of Auckland after she went missing in the city on December 1, the day before her 22nd birthday.

Now, her family have revealed how they have endured 'two weeks of hell' since her disappearance and how they are grateful for the outpouring of support from all over the world.

A 26-year-old New Zealand man has been charged with Ms Millane's murder - prompting New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern to apologise to her family on behalf of her country.

Michael Millane, 29, paid tribute to his younger sister, saying: 'She had a passion to see the world.'

He also revealed that before she traveled abroad, she cut off her long hair and donated it to the Little Princess Trust, which makes wigs for children who have lost their hair because of cancer.

Her mother Gillian is currently recovering from a breast cancer operation.

Father David, 60, told the Sunday Times that he hoped his daughter's death 'will not deter even one person from venturing out into the world'.

Ms Millane's father brought her body back to Britain yesterday after traveling to Auckland.

Gillian was unable to join the hunt for their daughter's body in New Zealand because of her operation.

The family also revealed that Ms Millane was planning a second long-haul trip to Asia.

Michael added: 'We all fly the nest. Her death should not deter any man or woman from following their dreams.'

He also thanked the thousands of people from all over the world who have sent the family supportive messages.

The family were also appreciative of Prime Minister Ardern's apology.

She said: 'From the Kiwis I have spoken to there is this overwhelming sense of hurt and shame that this has happened in our country, a place that prides itself on our hospitality ... especially to those who are visiting our shores,' she said.

'On behalf of New Zealand, I want to apologise to Grace's family. Your daughter should have been safe here and she wasn't and I'm sorry for that.'

Talking about Ms Millane's trip, her family said that her trip started with five weeks in Peru and then a trek to Machu Picchu.

The local chocolate factories were also something Ms Millane was excited by.

From New Zealand, she was intending to go to Fiji, then Australia before returning to Britain on June 26, 2019.

She intended to go on another trip to the Far-East.

The Millane family added that they hope to, in time, pick some causes that were close to Grace's heart so her name is remembered.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
