An attempt by John Paul Getty's grandson to make a public footpath in the Chilterns 'appear private, threatening and urban' has been slammed by campaigners.
Tara Getty, grandson of the oil tycoon John Paul Getty and half brother of John Paul Getty III who was kidnapped in Rome in 1973 and held for ransom, wants to erect the a 6ft (1.8m) high deer fencing to ensure privacy at the Buckinghamshire estate.
The application also asks to divert the bridleway off the current definitive line at two points which campaigners say would be a nuisance to cyclists and walkers.

Kate Ashbrook opposed the application on behalf of the Ramblers Buckinghamshire, saying: 'The fencing with electronically-controlled gates would make the whole area appear private, threatening and urban.
'Already the owner has erected discouraging notices about CCTV; the fencing would make it far worse.

'This is totally inappropriate in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and would conflict with people's use and enjoyment of the bridleway and the footpath.'
The Twigside Farm in Ibstone already has CCTV in operation and campaigners have opposed the addition of two black gates and the fencing as they'd be an 'eyesore.'
The Open Spaces Society has urged Wycombe District Council to reject the application saying on their website that they and number of other groups oppose the plan.
They said: 'Buckinghamshire Ramblers, Buckinghamshire County Council and Ibstone Parish Council have objected principally because of the adverse effect on people’s enjoyment of the bridleway.'
Kieran Foster, from Cycling UK, also wrote to the District Council saying that the proposal would make the route 'less attractive and potentially increase conflict between users.'
He added that the: 'reduction in width would, in and of itself, constitute a significant interference in the rights currently enjoyed.'
It is believed that in past planning applications Mr Getty's representatives have complained about the route and how closely it runs to the farm, with one person reportedly even being able to see into the living room and watch TV.

It was said that some people had stopped to take photographs of the properties at Twigside Farm which include a gym and games room, reports the Telegraph.
Mr Getty, whose full name is Tara Gabriel Gramophone Galaxy Getty, was born in 1968.
His mother Talitha died of a heroin overdose in July 1971 and his father Paul moved to London, where he made philanthropic donations to British institutions, reports Tatler.
In 2001 the Telegraph reported that Tara Getty and his wife Jessica had welcomed a baby boy called Orlando Willem Pol, named partly after Talitha whose maiden name was Pol.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
