«Breaking News» Cops and a wanted man have a hilarious week-long mock-romantic Facebook exchange

A Facebook exchange in which police and a suspect played out a mock-romance beneath the man's own 'wanted' post has gone viral after he initially commented telling them to 'calm down'.

When Richland WA Police Department shared an appeal for information on a man named Anthony Akers last week, the last source they expected to come forward was the man himself.

But instead 38-year-old Akers commented below the post assuring them he was going to co-operate.

The police’s first post read: 'Wanted Wednesday! Anthony Akers (38) is wanted by the Department of Corrections for Failure to Comply. If you have any information please call 509-628-0333.'

In a comment that has so far been liked more than two-and-a-half thousand times, Akers wrote: 'Calm down, I'm going to turn myself in.'

However, when he failed to appear after a few days, Richland PA got back in touch. They wrote: 'Hey Anthony! We haven’t seen you yet.

'Our business hours are 8:00am – 5:00pm Monday. Of course if you need a ride you can call non-emergency and we will pick you up.'

Akers wasted no time in responding with an honest and hilarious explanation as to his absence. He said: 'Thank you, tying up a couple loose ends since I will probably be in there a month. Should be there in the next 48 hours.'

The next two days came and went, however, and after one Facebook user inquired as to whether he had shown up, the Police confessed that he had let them down, again. Then things got weird.

By way of apology, Akers wrote: 'Dear RPD, its not you, its me. I obviously have commitment issues. I apologize for standing you up, but let me make it up to you.'

The two-and-fro exchange lasted a week - with Akers continually promising to turn up at the station and then letting police down

'I will be there no later then lunchtime tomorrow, I know you have no reason to believe me after what i did to you, but I promise that if I don’t make it on my own by lunchtime tomorrow I will call for a ride to assist me with my commitment issues.

'Thank you in advance to your response if you are patiently giving me another chance with us, I know i don't deserve it.'

'P.S. You’re beautiful.'

I don’t know if I need to tell you what happened next, so I’ll let this follow-up (still) ‘wanted’ post do the talking:

But by Monday, Akers still had not appeared. The Richland WA Police Department put out another statement, a little more melancholy than the first:  'Morose Monday. Dear Anthony, is it us? Last Wednesday we reached out to you as “wanted”. You replied and even said you were going to turn yourself in.

Finally however, the story got its happy(ish) ending - Akers turned himself in to police and even posted a photo of himself at the station for his 'date'

'We waited, but you didn’t show. After you stood us up, we reached out again- this time offering you a ride. You replied and said you needed 48 hours.

'The weekend came and went. We are beginning to think you are not coming. Please call us anytime and we will come to you. 509-628-0333.'

Yesterday, after days of waiting and going back and forth, the police finally got their happy ending. Akers even posted a photograph of himself outside the station alongside the note: 'Here for our date sweetheart'.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
