Chris Brown has claimed he doesn’t own the exotic monkey which could see him face jail time of up to six months.
The singer, 29, has been charged with two counts of possession of a restricted primate without a permit by Los Angeles City Attorney.
It came after his daughter Royalty, four, was seen playing with a capuchin monkey in a social media snap posted in December 2017 - leading to the pet, named Fiji, being seized by authorities.

But TMZ have reported the Loyal hitmaker insists the video, which is said to have sparked the California Department of Fish and Wildlife’s investigation, was not taken in his Los Angeles home.
Instead, Brown is reportedly going to suggest that it was filmed in Las Vegas, Nevada, where the monkey lived with a relative - who is apparently the real pet owner, sources close to the singer told the publication.
The authorities are allegedly not sold on these claims as Chris voluntarily surrendered the monkey in Los Angeles.
Brown’s response to this is believed to be that the actual owner was visiting with Fiji for that particular week.

Speaking at the time, Captain Patrick Foy said that investigators determined the singer did not have a permit for the capuchin monkey.
He added that the clip posted to Instagram by Brown, showing his then three-year-old daughter cuddling with the animal prompted a half-dozen calls to the wildlife department from concerned citizens.
Brown agreed to cooperate at the time, and soon after agents served a search warrant at his home.
The singer was not there at the time but had employees hand over the monkey in a cage.

Fiji is now at an undisclosed facility.
Brown is due to appear in court on February 6 2019.
The singer has been in repeated legal trouble since pleading guilty to the felony assault in 2009 of his then-girlfriend, Rihanna, ahead of the Grammys.
He completed his probation in that case in 2015.
In 2013, Brown was charged with misdemeanor assault after he was accused of striking a man outside a Washington DC hotel.
He was ordered into rehab but was dismissed for violating facility rules.

Brown spent close to three months in custody, with US Marshals shuttling him between Los Angeles and the nation's capital for hearings.
After he completed court-ordered anger-management classes, Brown was accused of throwing a brick at his mother's car following a counselling session.
He was then charged with felony battery again just this past July following a 2017 incident in Florida.
Brown was accused of hitting Bennie Vines Jr., who was hired by a club in Tampa to take pictures during an event hosted by Brown in April 2017.
Vines told officers Brown punched him while he was snapping photos. Brown was gone by the time officers arrived that night.
Vines refused medical treatment, but he told the officers that he wanted to prosecute over a minor lip cut.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
