Governor Andrew Cuomo is begging Jeff Bezos and Amazon to come to New York after the tech giant abandoned plans for a new headquarters in the city, according to reports.
The Democrat is said to have spoken on the phone with the company's founder in a direct plea to lure them back.
The New York Times reports Cuomo has also spoken with other executives and offered guarantees of support for the project.
That offer of support was further bolstered by an open letter signed by more than 70 business owners, elected officials and community groups.

The letter will appear in The Times Friday and is being paid for the pro-business Partnership for New York City.
It states: 'A clear majority of New Yorkers support this project and were disappointed by your decision not to proceed.
'Governor Cuomo will take personal responsibility for the project’s state approval and Mayor de Blasio will work together with the governor to manage the community development process.'
Mr. Cuomo said Thursday: 'I’ve had many conversations with Amazon. I hope that they reconsider. It would be helpful if the State Senate said that they would approve it; that would be helpful. But in the meantime I haven’t heard any changes.'
Amazon announced they were pulling the plug on their New York building plans on Valentine's Day, citing a lack of cooperation between local politicians.
At the time Cuomo blasted Congress freshman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and her peers for derailing the plans.
A small group of politicians put their own narrow political interests above their community — which poll after poll showed overwhelmingly supported bringing Amazon to Long Island City — the state’s economic future and the best interests of the people of this state,' Cuomo said in a statement.

The ambitious sprawling 8million square feet campus would have brought an estimated 25,000 jobs to the city, as the city dangled $3billion in return in tax breaks and incentives.
The plan was announced last November and would have created over $10billion in revenue over the next 20 years.
Amazon announced its cancelled plans in a statement saying, 'We are disappointed to have reached this conclusion - we love New York.'
DailyMail.com has reached out to representatives for Amazon and Cuomo for comment.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
