«Breaking News» Todd Milsap, son of country music legend Ronnie Milsap, found dead on Nashville houseboat

The son of country music legend Ronnie Milsap was found dead in a houseboat, police said on Monday.

Authorities in Tennessee said the body of Todd Milsap, 49, was found on his houseboat on Saturday in the Antioch section of Nashville.

Todd Milsap’s son, who had not heard from his father in two days, alerted police after he found his father’s lifeless body on his boat at Four Corners Marina, The Tennessean reported.

The Nashville Police Department said that the death appears to be medically related.

Todd Milsap worked with his father, six-time Grammy Award winner Ronnie Milsap, behind the scenes on tours, videos, and other recording projects.

‘Our son Todd was a force of joy, life, creativity and giving from the moment he was born,’ said Ronnie Milsap.

‘He made such a mark on our world in his years on this planet, everyone who met him was richer for it.

‘It is too soon to even understand this loss, and I hope it's something no one has to bear.

‘Please keep his three children, their mothers and Joyce and I in your prayers at such a fragile time.’

Ronnie Milsap was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2014.

He was an established talent by the time he arrived in Nashville in the 1970s.

Milsap had played in J.J. Cale's band in the early 1960s and moved to Memphis to work with Chips Moman at the hit-making American Studios, where he worked with Elvis Presley, among others, before accepting an invitation to go to Nashville to record for RCA Records.

It was something of an experiment for Milsap, known as an R&B and rock singer, but he made sure he had a regular gig before he hit town, playing nightly at Roger Miller's King of the Road Hotel.

He found country fans were open to his style, and he went on to win several Grammy Awards, the CMA's entertainer of the year award in 1977 and four album of the year awards between 1975 and 1986.

Born in North Carolina, Milsap was a wunderkind at musical instrumentation, learning gospel, country and pop music from radio and classical techniques from the State School for the Blind in Raleigh.

Early on in his career, he played piano on Presley records such as Kentucky Rain, in which the King of Rock 'n' Roll implored him for 'more thunder on the piano, Milsap!'

After moving to Nashville, he bought a Music Row studio from Roy Orbison, renovating it and turning it into a hit factory, starting with his 1979 hit Nobody Likes Sad Songs through his major hits like Stranger in My House.

He had the recording console equipped with a Braille label and kept it until 1995.

Last month, just two days before he turned 76, Milsap released an album of duets on which he collaborated with 13 other singers and bands - Ronnie Milsap: The Duets.

Milsap sings on the album with Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson, ZZ Top's Billy Gibbons, Kacey Musgraves and many more.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
