A convicted serial killer, who confessed to police he's murdered more than 90 people over nearly four decades, has started painting pictures of some of his victims - and the FBI needs help identifying them.

Sam Little, 78, said he aimlessly murdered an innocent person in 1970 and repeated the act 92 more times over the next 35 years, before halting his sickening tirade in 2005.

Historic DNA evidence resulted in him sentenced for the murders of three women in 2014, but by November last year Little told authorities he'd actually killed nearly 100 more women.

If his claims are proven to be true, Little will go down as one of the most prolific serial killers in history.

So far, investigators have managed to confirm 36 of his slayings, which span the length of the country from LA to Washington DC.

Officers say he exhibits an eerie eye for detail, but the victims are proving to be difficult to identify because he preyed on vulnerable and maligned members of society, such as sex workers

But in a bid to close a litany of long-cold cases, the FBI has started releasing the doodles Little has been painting of his victims in his cell.

16 pictures have so far been released by agency, which have been sketched from memory by Little and showcase an eerie eye for detail.

Officers are said to be desperately scouring old case files and photographs to try and identify the Jane Does, but matching them up is proving to be a difficult task.

The reason, they say, is because Little tended to prey on marginalized members of society who would leave the faintest trail in their wake when they disappeared.

Most of his confirmed kills were identified to be drug addicts, prostitutes or transgender women - whom Little would strangle and often dump their bodies in dense wooded areas.

With no trace of a gunshot or stab wound, police would often mistakenly rule the cause of death to be an overdoses or an accident, and failed to open a murder probe as a result.

If his claims are corroborated, Little will go down as one of the most prolific serial killers in history (pictured: Little in a Texas court, in November 2018)

Investigators are now said to be encouraging Little to continue with his twisted artistic endeavor in the hope of bringing retrospective justice to those whose brutal deaths were once drastically overlooked.

According to police, Little has billed himself as a gifted artists and told them he'll be able to retrace the faces of his unknown victims feature by feature, using chalk, pastels and water colors.

The victims are all captured in the final moments of their lives and most exhibit forlorn or petrified expressions, staring directly into the killer-come-artist's eyes.

Some, however, display more specific detailing that may later prove to be crucial fragments of recollection: one, listed as 'Mary', has a blue and white striped headband holding her hair back.

Another has purple streaks through her curled hair. All of the women have bright and plump, red lips.

Three of the 16 portraits have been matched up to previously unsolved murders.

One of the victims was from Prince George County, Maryland, one in West Memphis, Arkansas, and the third was from Pascagoula, Missouri.

Little is currently serving three consecutive life sentences for three murders committed in Los Angeles.

So far, police have managed to link Little to 17 other murders in the state.

They're currently investigating other possible links to slayings in 36 different cities, across 16 different states.

Police tested his DNA and he was connected to three unsolved murders across 1987 and 1989, including the death of Audrey Nelson.

Little is said to be in poor health and investigators are conducting daily interviews to extract as much information from him as possible.

The FBI urged anyone with information about the victims to call on (800) 634-4097.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
