«Breaking News» Oscars 2019: Crazy Rich Asians star Gemma Chan dons a neon pink gown

Her hit romantic comedy-drama was snubbed by the Oscars, when the shortlists were announced without a single nomination for Crazy Rich Asians.

But Gemma Chan ensured she didn't go unnoticed as she arrived at the Kodak Theater in Hollywood on Sunday, clad in a sensational neon pink Valentino Haute Couture gown for the 91st Academy Awards.

The actress, 36, didn't hold back with her outfit choice, sporting an incredibly vibrant fuchsia gown, with parachute-style ruffles and a statement neckline.

The bold frock, which swamped her slight frame, featured a voluminous train which dragged along the red carpet behind her.

Gemma made sure to show off the bold dress' discrete front pocket, as she posed with her left hand tucked inside.

The Humans star, who is dating Mamma Mia's Dominic Cooper, rocked the daring number which boasted a dramatic up-turned neckline.

The sleeveless dress elegantly skimmed over her chest but soon swept out into a voluminous skirt.

The Academy Awards red carpet was awash with colour this year! From Constance Wu's canary yellow Versace gown to Laura Harrier's powder blue Louis Vuitton offering, every colour of the rainbow was accounted for.

Gemma Chan made her colourful contribution in the form of this dress by Valentino. Hailing from the SS19 Couture collection, Gemma's dress is a fuchsia show-stopper and a red carpet winner.

We love it when our favourite celebs get playful for awards shows and Gemma's eye-catching dress certainly adds some fun to proceedings. Sadly us mere mortals can't get our hands on it but thankfully we've rounded up some similarly pink picks...

Gemma's eye-catching look, which mirrored the high-fashion style of the film, was accessorised with a pair of 2D chandelier earrings and a sparkling bracelet.

Other than her choice of simple accessories, the actress let the dress do the talking, with her dark brunette locks styled into a chic, dishevelled bun at the nape of her neck.

Her natural beauty was enhanced with a flawless make-up base, a thick application of black eye-liner and a dark pink lip.

It's been a good 12 months for Gemma who starred in the Box Office smash hit Crazy Rich Asians and moved in with hunky Dominic.

Gemma found herself thrown even further into the spotlight, after starring in the film, released last year. The high grossing film has made $235million to date and is the first blockbuster in 25 years to feature an all-Asian cast.

Although, she previously admitted she was reluctant to take part in the movie at first.

Gemma revealed: 'I was immediately a bit suspicious of the title, thinking, "Oh god, there'll be all these gross stereotypes."'

But a year after 'falling in love with the characters', she was offered the script and role of the main character Rachel, which she declined for the role of Astrid - a wealthy woman struggling in marriage to a man who she supports financially.

'I felt so strongly that I wanted to go for this part. I thought it was a really interesting opportunity to explore that dynamic between a couple', she explained.

'It’s not that unusual, nowadays, that a man isn’t the main breadwinner or the most successful in a partnership.'

Speaking of the movie, Gemma added: 'Even five years ago, the idea that a studio would bet on a cast of not-huge all-Asian actors… I don’t know if they would have taken that risk. But I think it does pay off at the box office.'

'I felt really emotional watching it, seeing faces that looked like my family and my grandparents, and I get messages daily from people all over the world, telling me how much it means to them,' she claimed.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
