«Breaking News» Donald Trump was unaware of National Enquirer's plan to expose details of Jeff Bezos' affair

Donald Trump claimed he didn't know about plans by American media Inc. to publish explosive details about Jeff Bezos' affair with Lauren Sanchez.

The National Enquirer, which is controlled by AMI, published a story last month that included lurid texts between Bezos and former TV anchor Sanchez.

Bezos, the founder of Amazon and world's richest man, has been investigating how the tabloid obtained his private exchanges with his mistress.

Last week he claimed that AMI threatened to expose his revealing photos if he didn't have his private investigators back off.

POTUS, who has feuded with Bezos for years, was asked Tuesday whether he was aware of AMI's investigation and responded, 'No. No, I wasn't.'

His comment on the issue will add more fuel to the fire as the National Enquirer has a history of trying to protect Trump.

The magazine acknowledged paying $150,000 to Playboy centerfold Karen McDougal for the rights to her story about an alleged affair with Trump.

The company then buried the story until after the outcome of the 2016 Presidential election.

Bezos, who is also owner of The Washington Post, detailed his interactions with American Media, in an extraordinary blog post Thursday on Medium.com last week.

The billionaire did not say the tabloid was seeking money - instead, he said, the Enquirer wanted him to make a public statement that the tabloid's coverage was not politically motivated.

Elkan Abramowitz, who represents the publication's parent company American Media Inc. chief executive David Pecker, refuted allegations the story was politically motivated because of Pecker's close friendship with President Trump, who has repeatedly railed against Bezos.

He saidon Sunday that a 'reliable source' known to Bezos and his mistress provided the story about the billionaire's extramarital affair.

When asked if it was a 'take down' to please Trump, Abramowitz replied: 'Any investigator knew it was not the White House.'

Bezos' accusations from earlier in the week added another twist to the high-profile clash between the world's richest man and the leader of America's best-known tabloid.

Bezos' investigators have suggested the Enquirer's coverage of his affair - which included the release of risque texts - was driven by dirty politics.

'Of course I don't want personal photos published, but I also won't participate in their well-known practice of blackmail, political favors, political attacks, and corruption,' Bezos wrote of AMI, in explaining his decision to go public.

'I prefer to stand up, roll this log over, and see what crawls out.'

AMI has admitted in the past that it engaged in what's known as 'catch-and-kill' practices to help Trump become president. Trump has been highly critical of Bezos and the Post's coverage of the White House.

Bezos then hired a team of private investigators to find out how the tabloid got the texts and photos the two exchanged.

Several days ago, someone at AMI told Bezos' team that the company's CEO David Pecker was 'apoplectic' about the investigation, Bezos said.

AMI later approached Bezos' representatives with an offer.

'They said they had more of my text messages and photos that they would publish if we didn't stop our investigation,' Bezos wrote.

Bezos wrote that last week, the tabloid's editor, Dylan Howard, emailed an attorney for Bezos' longtime security consultant to describe photos the Enquirer 'obtained during our newsgathering.'

The photos include a 'below the belt selfie' of Bezos, photos of him in tight boxer-briefs and wearing only a towel, and several revealing photos of Sanchez, according to the emails Bezos released.

According to the emails, an attorney for AMI offered a formal deal last Wednesday: The tabloid wouldn't post the photos if Bezos and his investigators would release a public statement 'affirming that they have no knowledge or basis' to suggest the Enquirer's coverage was 'politically motivated or influenced by political forces.'

In its initial story, the Enquirer said reporters followed Bezos and Sanchez 'across five states and 40,000 miles' and 'tailed them in private jets, swanky limos, helicopter rides, romantic hikes, five-star hotel hideaways, intimate dinner dates and 'quality time' in hidden love nests.'

It reported that Bezos sent 'sleazy text messages and gushing love notes' to Sanchez, months before Bezos announced he was splitting up with his wife, MacKenzie.

When news of the split emerged on January 9, Trump took a swipe at Bezos, saying that as the saga of his extramarital affairs and pending divorce plays out, 'It's going to be a beauty.'

'I wish him luck,' Trump said, twice, when DailyMail.com asked him to comment on the soap opera that has subjected Bezos to a new kind of scrutiny that the president understands from personal experience.

Trump has feuded with Bezos for years, complaining that the e-tailing mogul bought The Washington Post as a way to quietly lobby for his company's interests.

The Post is also among the news outlets Trump resents the most for what he believes is rampant bias in its reporting.

The president has been in Bezos' shoes before, when his marrigaes with Ivana Trump and Marla Maples fell apart.

A few days later he tweeted: 'So sorry to hear the news about Jeff Bozo being taken down by a competitor whose reporting, I understand, is far more accurate than the reporting in his lobbyist newspaper, the Amazon Washington Post.

'Hopefully the paper will soon be placed in better & more responsible hands!.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
