Married at First Sight viewers have accused the show's producers and cast member, Lauren Huntriss, of making a mockery of LGBT issues.
On Monday night's episode, the 31-year-old makeup artist told her husband, Matt Bennett, that she 'used to be a lesbian' - and the revelation sparked outrage.
Media expert, Nicole Reaney of InsideOut Public Relations, told Daily Mail Australia this week that viewer backlash is warranted.

'These kinds of 'revelations' have been used in other reality shows as a tactic to hook in an audience,' she said.
'Audiences are getting tired and offended by these attempts. A little more consideration needs to be taken these days to ensure language aligns with societal values.
'While Channel Nine will bounce back from this – they will just wear the wave of this backlash.'

Last year, Channel Ten was accused of 'queerbaiting' for teasing a 'lesbian romance' that never actually happened between contestants Megan Marx and Elora Murger on Bachelor In Paradise.
Months later, viewers slammed the same network for heavily promoting former Bachelor contestant Brooke Blurton's 'big secret' - which turned out to be her simply telling Nick Cummins that she once had same-sex experiences.
After Monday's episode of MAFS, critics flocked to Twitter to vent outrage as some said the lesbian revelation scene sends the wrong message about the LGBT community.

'Gaahhhhhh 'I used to be a lesbian'. Just no. Please don't trivialise our identity. Makes me think, one day, if I try reeeally hard, maybe I'll get a husband,' one user tweeted.
'I'm a bit confused... so according to Lauren being a lesbian is a choice and you can change your mind at will and stop being gay? #MAFS,' another wrote.
'Did Lauren ACTUALLY say she used to be a lesbian!??? WTF! This insults the LGBTQ - community so much! #MAFS #marriedatfirstsightau #LGBTQtwitter,' another tweeted.

'I don't believe there is such a thing as 'used to be lesbian' Lauren. I'm pretty sure it doesn't work like that and you are either Straight, Bi or Les etc #MAFS,' one viewer wrote.
'Lauren - You can't use to be a lesbian. It's called bisexual - you like both sexes! You say it like its a choice! #MAFS.'
Daily Mail Australia has contacted Channel Nine for comment.
The conversation between Lauren and her husband Matt, 29, began when he asked, 'what's something about you that most people find surprising when they learn?'
She replied: 'I used to be a lesbian.'
Matt, who lost his virginity to Lauren on their honeymoon, appeared shocked by the revelation and was lost for words which made Lauren uncomfortable.
First night of passion: Prior to hearing his wife's 'lesbian revelation', Matt lost his virginity to her on their honeymoon
'The fact that I have had relationships with girls definitely shocked Matt and he went silent. He just won't talk,' she said.
'I'm not impressed to be honest. He should have a thousand things to ask me, I've got a thousand things to ask him. So it makes me question like, does he really want to know about me?'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
