«Breaking News» Three people killed and 172 injured as tornado tears through Havana

Three people have been killed and more than 170 were injured as a tornado devastated the Cuban capital of Havana on Sunday evening.

Gusts of winds of more than 62mph tore through parts of Havana around 9pm on Sunday, bringing heavy rain and hail.

The storm caused city-wide power-cuts, destroyed buildings and sent cars flying, local media reports.

The full magnitude of the damage is not yet known, however photos and video footage posted on social media by Havana residents show the destruction the tornado has left in its wake.

President Miguel Díaz-Canel said early Monday that three people had been killed and 172 injured in the storm, however the number of casualties may rise.

Diaz-Canel, who toured the darkened streets of Havana in the pre-dawn hours visiting emergency crews, wrote on Twitter that damages to the Cuban capital 'were severe.'

A majority of the capital suffered a power cut as a result of the storm, with the neighbourhoods of Santo Suárez, Luyanó, Vía Blanca, Regla and Chibás worst affected, according to local media.

Sirens could be heard across the city until early in the morning, and photos shared by Cuban TV channel Canal Habana show damaged buildings and cars as well as trees blocking the roads.

At around 1am local time, Canal Habana reported that the city was still without electricity and posted photos of homes in ruins on its Facebook page.

Local news website CubaNet said flooding had been reported in some parts of Havana.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
