«Breaking News» Rob Gronkowski draws criticism for making a sexually suggestive remark to female reporter

New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski has drawn criticism following Monday's Super Bowl Media Night in which he made a sexually suggestive remark to a female reporter.

Gronkowski was asked what the chances are of him retiring after Sunday's Super Bowl against the Los Angeles Rams.

'You know what number I'm putting up, and my chances,' laughed Gronkowski, who is known to make juvenile references to '69,' which is also known as a sex act.

Gronkowski then pointed to a female reporter, and said: 'I can see, so she knows the number, so ask her.'

'I'll give you a math problem,' he continued. 'What's six times nine plus six plus nine?'

The Patriots have not responded to the Daily Mail's request for comment.

New York sports radio host Chris Carlin weighed in afterwards on WFAN: 'He's obviously making a stupid 69 joke, but you're going to point to a female reporter in that setting and say 'ask her?'

'I don't care who it is,' Carlin continued. 'Do whatever you want, dude. Just don't be disrespectful in that setting.'

Co-hosts Maggie Gray and former NFL linebacker Bart Scott both agreed.

'That one is a crossing the line,' said Gray. 'I think there has been a pass that's been given to Rob Gronkowski for a really long time. I think part of the pass that he gets comes with the fact he is doing this and really doesn't have anything in his past or in his private life that would indicate he actually has an issue. It just seems like an act.'

Scott did not find Gronkowski's joke amusing

'Workplace etiquette, right?' said Scott, who played for the Baltimore Ravens and New York Jets. 'He has to understand that this is business time, it's workplace time, that you can't go that route. It's not the time or the place.'

One angry fan demanded on Twitter that Gronkowski apologize to the reporter.

'if you REALLY want the #MeToo movement to have a second wave that will have a lasting impact? Suspend @RobGronkowski for what he said to the female reporter about what his favorite number is. Great football player, complete idiot, not cool. Apologize or don't play,'

Gronkowski's affinity for the '69' reportedly dates back to his high school days.

As a student at Williamsville North High School in Buffalo, New York, Gronkowski allegedly missed a free throw in a high school basketball game so that his team would finish with 69 points.

'So we're playing a home game and we have 68 points - now it's not a blowout, but it's not a particularly close game either,' his then-coach Chuck Swierski told Rhode Island station WPRI

'So he [Gronkowski] gets fouled and goes to the free throw line,' he continued. 'He hits the first one to get us to 69 and the place goes nuts because he's playing into it. On his next free throw, he purposely chucks the ball off the backboard and misses so the score would stay at 69 and then runs back on defense pointing at the scoreboard.'

A year ago Gronkowski claimed he invited 69 family members to Super Bowl LII.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
