«Breaking News» Megan Mullally reveals she bought her own SAG Awards dress

SAG Awards host and Will & Grace star Megan Mullally has revealed that she was forced to purchase her own dress for the award ceremony online 'because designers are not interested' in dressing her for red carpets.

Speaking about her look for the evening during a red carpet interview, the 60-year-old star explained that she had snagged her stunning black Alexander McQueen dress online ahead of the ceremony, something that she has become accustomed to doing over the years, after realizing big-name brands weren't willing to send her pieces.

'I always pick out clothes online and buy my own stuff because first of all I like it because I can just wear what I want to wear but also the major designers are not interested in sending me any dresses,' she told Access Hollywood.

The actress even told designers that she would be hosting the award ceremony - a role that meant she could essentially guarantee that their designs would be on camera during the evening, but even that didn't encourage labels to offer to dress her for the big event.

'I said I am literally hosting,' she said of the conversations that she had with design labels. 'There is a 100 per cent chance that I will be on camera. But people were like, "No, no thanks."'

Megan did admit that Alexander McQueen sent her 'two dresses that didn't work out', so she chose to buy her own from the brand - a black floor-length number with glittering gold beading on the front.

Although Megan's dress does not currently appear to be available online, similar styles cost thousands of dollars, suggesting that the star had to pay a fairly handsome sum in order to procure her dress for the evening.

She paired the design with a gold Marni purse and a pair of shoes from Aquazurra that remained largely hidden under the long dress.

Even when it came to her jewelry, Megan took matters into her own hands, largely choosing pieces that came out of her own closet, instead of trying to find designers to send her choices.

The long-time TV star insisted that having to find her own dress wasn't something that made her feel in any way negative about the evening, but said she was eager for people to know that not every celebrity at a big event has had dresses 'thrown at them left and right'.

'I think it’s funny but I think it’s interesting for people to know that because I think everybody in the general public thinks well everybody is getting dresses thrown at them left and right, but that’s not actually the case,' she explained.

Speaking about her chosen dress during the pre-show livestream on the red carpet, Megan once again noted that she doesn't find it upsetting to have to buy a dress, because it gives her the opportunity to take full control of whatever she ends up wearing at the event.

'At the end of the day, I rather pick what I like and what I feel comfortable in and not get pinned into a corner where I’m beholden to a designer and I have to wear it,' she said.

'I’ve gotten a few nice offers — not name designers, but emerging designers — but it was already too late by that time to have a dress made. So I’d already bought stuff online. I like it!'

This is no the first time that Megan has spoken out about the lack of designers who are willing to work with her, taking to Instagram last month to vent her frustrations over it.

'Looks like I will be buying my dress online though, as per my usual, even though there is literally a 100 per cent chance that i will be on camera, because I’M HOSTING IT,' she wrote while confirming her role as the host of the evening.

'Designers do not send me dresses. I’m online scrolling through the gowns sections of various websites - which i know how to do pretty well at this point - and then I tried to order something from Saks Fifth Avenue and they cancelled my order.

'Oh, the glamour of it all!'

Speaking about her look for the evening during a red carpet ...

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
