Corey Feldman, pictured in March last year, penned an emotional and scathing article on Monday slamming Hollywood for 'ignoring' child sexual abuse
Corey Feldman has accused Hollywood of ignoring a systemic pedophilia problem but making amends for its treatment of women in an emotional article where he describes being abused as a child actor and calls for justice for other victims.
The former actor, 47, wrote an article of NBC which was published on Monday to announce his role as the ambassador for the charity Child USA.
In it, he calls for an end to the statute of limitations which render many cases of historic sexual abuse impossible to prosecute because too much time has passed.
Repeating claims he has been making for years that he and his friend, the late Corey Haim were raped as child actors, Feldman said he was 'raped of his innocence' and was now demanding justice for other children.
'What has happened to children in my industry was by and large ignored and, at this point, it’s been all but brushed under the rug.
'Hollywood seems much more ready to accept responsibility for what it's done to women than they are willing to face that there is still a deep-seated virus within this industry — and, most unfortunately, it’s not an industry-exclusive disease, but also effects other parts of our culture....
'I was raped of my innocence — as was Corey Haim. That's not okay; that's not acceptable.
'For me, the only real justice is to — hopefully — one day see those guys that did this stuff to us face the consequences that they deserve,' he wrote.
He decried the statute of limitations which applies in many states, explaining that it takes years for child sex abuse victims to understand what has happened to them let alone consider pressing charges.
'The problem right now is that, by the time that children have the wherewithal to know that something was wrong — to know that something wrong was done to them — and have the strength to admit it to their peers or to their family, it's far too late in many states to take the perpetrators to court, either criminally or in civil suits.

Feldman (right) has long claimed that both he and Corey Haim (center) were raped as child actors. Haim died in 2010. They are pictured on the 1987 set of the Lost Boys
'They're in situations like I am, or in situations like my best friend Corey Haim was in, where we never got the chance to face our abusers. Justice can never be served to survivors because of these statute of limitation laws,' he wrote.
New York is due to pass a bill on Monday which will make significant changes to its historic sexual assault laws.
Under the Child Victims Act, victims will be allowed to press charges against their abusers until they are 28 years old instead of 23, the limit until recently.
They will also be able to pursue civil action against abusers until they are 55.
Most significantly is that the state is opening a one-year, one-off window for anyone whose cases have previously fallen outside the statute of limitations to seek justice.
Feldman praised the move in his piece but said more still had to be done across the country.
He complained about the reaction he received when he launched an online fundraising campaign asking for $10million to fund an exposé on Hollywood pedophiles, and said he was expecting friends and colleagues to pick up the phone and throw money at him when he launched it.
'However a year ago, the reaction from Hollywood when I launched a campaign to make a movie based on my book, the New York Times bestseller Coreyography, was not what I expected.

The actor has claimed in the past year that people have been trying to kill him to silence his allegations. He is shown in the hospital in March after claiming to have been stabbed. His lawyer later said it was the result of a road rage attack
'I really thought, at that time, that I would get hundreds of calls from all of my colleagues, from all of my associates going, "Oh my God, we didn't even know, or, We heard about this. What can we do to help? How do we get involved? Let me help you get this film made. This needs to happen."
'I didn't get much of that...nobody handed over a million dollars, or two million dollars, or five million dollars and said, "Let's get this movie made."
'That was something that I was really expecting to happen; that's how Hollywood normally works, even when you're trying to go against the grain and get a dangerous truth out through a movie,' he said.
He added that he had since set to work on his own documentary - 'Truth: The Rape of Two Coreys'.
'We've spent the last year working diligently to get it done the right way, and I'm very proud of what we've got,' he said.
He did not make mention of the attempts on his life he believes have taken place to try to silence him since he started speaking out on the issue.

Feldman tweeted excitedly after the article was published. It coincides with the New York state government's vote on the Child Victims Act

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
