«Breaking News» Bar named after drug lord Pablo Escobar is selling a burger topped with a line of white powder

A pop-up bar named after infamous drug lord Pablo Escobar has launched a controversial burger featuring a line of white powder and a rolled-up fake $100 note.

Pablo's Escoburgers in Prahran, Melbourne, is named after the former Colombian cartel leader known for supplying at least 80 per cent of the cocaine smuggled into the USA in the late 1980s.

In an attempt to 'take the p*** out of Pablo Escobar', nicknamed the 'King of Cocaine', the bar offers 'The Patron Burger', featuring a line of white garlic powder on top of the bun.

The meal also comes with a rolled-up fake American $100 note and a clear plastic bag filled with more powder and a spoon.

Speaking to 3AW host Tom Elliot, bar co-owner Vaughn Marks said the menu item is just 'a bit of a joke'.

'That's just the way most Australians see it,' he said.

Mr Elliot argued the burger store was 'veering on the side of glorifying drug use'.

The Patron burger has also caused a stir online, with scores of social media users accusing the bar of idolising the drug lord.

'You are so naive. I hope you one day actually talk to a Colombian and realise how offensive your restaurant is,' one user wrote.

'Who the f*** idolises a drug lord and sticks a rolled up dollar bill in a burger?' another wrote.

However, many users gave the store's sense of humour the thumbs-up.

'Looks like we might have to have some nose burgers tomorrow night!' one user joked.

'A line worth waiting for,' another wrote.

In a written statement, the bar owners admitted Escobar was a 'horrible man who destroyed the lives of thousands of Colombians'.

'We do not condone, idolise or promote Pablo Emilio Escobar or his actions in anyway,' it read.

'We are however Australian and know how to have a laugh about a good play on words. Hard not to offend someone in 2019.'

The staff at Pablo's Escoburgers said they won't be changing the name despite backlash from the public, including members of the Colombian community living in the area.

'All publicity is good publicity. We're happy with the name, we have seen a lot worse.'

The drug lord hired hitmen to target police and ordered hundreds of killings.

He was shot dead in 1993.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
