«Breaking News» The terrifying moment an HGV smashes into two stationary cars

This is the terrifying moment an out-of-control HGV crashes into the side of two stationary cars in North Yorkshire.

The dashcam footage, filmed on the A19 near York, captures the lorry as it travels along the centre of the busy road.

It then swerves to the left as oncoming cars approach and crashes into two vehicles - including one carrying a mother and her baby.

The second car then moves forward on impact and crashes into the Peugeot filming the incident.

One person was taken to hospital following the crash but there were no serious injuries.

Nick Dainton, 71, captured the footage on the dashcam of his Peugeot RCZ - one of four vehicles involved in the collision.

The retired lorry and coach driver said people were left in a state of shock after the accident.

Mr Dainton, from Howden in East Yorkshire, said: 'We had stopped in a line of traffic and I looked in my rear view mirror and all I could see was a fast-moving truck.

'It happened very quickly, the truck hit two cars which were behind me, a white BMW and a Kia which bounced into my car.

'The police told me the woman driving the Kia was injured and I think she had a fractured breastbone and whiplash and was travelling with her baby.

'The ambulance and the police were on the scene in minutes.

'People were angry at the time but I'm just glad no one was seriously injured. It could have been worse but I hope this shows that people need to pay attention especially with Christmas around the corner.'

Mr Dainton fears his sports car could be written off due to the damage caused.

He said: 'I have had my the car for two years and it was my pride and joy.

'I've even driven to France in it. I have driven all my life as a coach and lorry driver but this car is the one I've enjoyed driving the most.

'The boot of my car has to get straightened and I need a completely new bumper, I would be upset if it can't be replaced.

'They have not said whether it's going to be written off, I've just got to wait and find out.'

A spokesman for the Yorkshire Ambulance Service said: 'One patient was taken to hospital but it is not believed to be serious.

'Two other people were checked over on the scene but didn't need to go to the hospital.'

North Yorkshire Police said they were called to the scene at 12.50pm yesterday after reports of a four-vehicle collision.

A spokesman for the force said the road was blocked in both directions for more than 90 minutes while vehicles were recovered.

Mr Dainton added: 'It's coming up to Christmas and people have a lot on their minds. All it takes is a few seconds for accidents like this to happen. People need to be careful on the road and pay attention.'

A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said: 'Police attended a collision involving four vehicles near to the Strawberry Fields Café at the Crockey Hill junction on the A19. The road was blocked. Road cleared at 3.15pm.

'Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to contact police on 101 and quote reference number 12180229540. No arrests made.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
