Shonda Rhimes purchased a luxury two-bedroom penthouse last week, reportedly snapping the property on New York's glamorous Park Avenue for the reduced price of $11.75million.
The 48-year-old – who has called herself the 'highest-paid showrunner in television' - is estimated to be worth $140million, so with two adopted daughters and a third welcomed via gestational surrogacy in September 2013, the new two-bedroom is apartment is likely to be crash pad for the star.
The one-level apartment was first listed by Brown Harris Stevens in March for $14,750,000. But by June the price had dropped 15 percent to $12,500,000 and last Friday Rhimes got another $750,000 off the home reports the New York Post.
But when she's visiting the Big Apple she'll have access to her home with 'romantic city views', 'soaring ceilings' and 'beautiful architectural elements' via a private elevator.
Rhimes can benefit from a corner living room that provides double sun exposure from the east and south and when it's not so bright outside multiple wood burning fireplaces will keep guests cozy in the evenings.
With doors opening onto the planted terrace, the Grey's Anatomy and Scandal producer even has some outdoor space for entertaining.
Set inside a 14-story building with 48 units, the 1927 tower was renovated two years ago to bring it up to higher standards, according to Street Easy. It's part of a co-operative which means Rhimes owns shares in the building which is own in its entirety by someone else.
The formal dining room has been turned into a luxury library and with the penthouse's flowing design, the room which doubles up as an office leads to an outside living room and large dining area.
More space for hosting is guaranteed in the kitchen which has an eat-in island big enough for four people to dine. Rhimes won't even have to kit the place out herself as appliances by Miele and Sub Zero come with the pad.

The home is likely just a crash pad for Rhimes who has three daughters and is said to be worth $140million
The kitchen has lacquered cabinetry installed up to the ceiling, a wet bar with additional storage, two dishwashers and a laundry room with maid's bath hidden behind a secret door.
When Rhimes is in the city working on her craft she can wake up in the master bedroom with en suite bathroom with an Eastern terrace perfect for sunrise 'meditation and morning coffee'.
The bedrooms are located down a private hall off the central gallery and the apartment gets even plusher in the private areas.

Other perks inside the pad include custom-fitted closets throughout and a maid's room is available at an additional cost on the second floor of the building
A listing described a 'fanciful powder room featuring a marble floor that is a copy of a garden at Versailles'.

In additional, a storage unit that comes with the apartment and for an additional price a double maid's room is available on the second floor of the building should Rhimes require anyone to live-in and take care of her home.

Rhimes' new place is serviced by a doorman and has a communal gym and concierge available.
But after signing a multi-year Netflix deal last summer, said to be worth $100million, which she later revealed was incorrect, the How to Get Away With Murder producer might be too busy to take advantage of the benefits.
In October the prolific creator of hit shows listed a 1920s mansion in Los Angeles for a cool $9,995,000, eight years after she bought it for $5.6million from indie-rock musician Beck.
The six-bedroom property is just one of four multi-million dollar homes Rhimes owns in the historic and prestigious Hancock Park neighborhood.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
