«Breaking News» NYC SantaCon reveler risks a750 volt zapping and sudden death to jump train tracks at Penn Station

A SantaCon reveler risked life and limb Saturday to brazenly jump across electrified train tacks in Penn Station, New York, with the dangerous stunt captured on camera.

It's not known if the unidentified man was drunk or sober.

He took the run and jump over the tracks, part of the Long Island Railroad Railway, in Penn Station. The incident was captured on camera and soon posted on Twitter

Judging by his Santa's hat the man was taking part in SantaCon, the annual, often inebriated gathering of people dressed as Santa Claus who go barhopping.

The event is held in more than 120 cities in the United States and abroad, according to SantaCon.info.

The video shows the man, who was also wearing sunglasses and a sweater emblazoned with the word, 'Christmas,' taking a long run up to the edge of the platform, through a small gap next to another passenger, before jumping through the air and landing on the other side.

He might have cleared the train track but the reveler didn't have much room for error as he landed on the yellow paint line on the platform edge.

The dangerous prank was over in a matter of seconds with bystanders hardly having any time to react. The man is seen to walk towards the camera, presumably held by a friend, grinning and celebrating his achievement.

One false step and the video's ending could have been very different.

The Long Island Railroad Railway zaps 750 volts of electricity into hundreds of its trains a day, according to the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen publication.

The LIRR's uses a third rail to power its electric trains - the rail carries a shock six times stronger than an electric wall socket that can kill a person instantly.

'You definitely do not want to step on it under any circumstances,' said Mark Groce, a spokesman for New York City Transit.

The Federal Transportation Administration cites trespassing, walking on the tracks, as the top cause of death on U.S. railroads.

An alcohol ban on mass transit went into effect at noon Saturday in New York.

New York Police Department said that nothing unusual was reported during SantaCon. As this video showed, though, social media told a different story.

One drunken reveler was seen falling over on a Manhattan sidewalk and tripping another woman as she walked by.

The man lost his balance and appeared to be on the verge of passing out.

As he landed face first on the pavement, a passerby's foot got caught underneath his head, sending her flying into the concrete.

In the past, the annual pub crawl has resulted in revelers being flagged for public urination, littering, and the usual disorder that results from mass drunkenness.

The Daily Mail has contacted the MTA. It's unclear if they are investigating the incident.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
