«Breaking News» Gary Sinise describes the 'heartwarming' feeling of flying 1,722 Gold Star family members to Disney

Gary Sinise said sending 1,722 gold star family members to 'the happiest place on earth was very, very special', following the success of his foundation's holiday trip to Disney World this year.

The award-winning actor, 63, is known for his role as Lieutenant Dan Taylor in 1994 movie Forrest Gump but in real life he has dedicated decades to helping military relatives heal after losing a loved one in conflict zones.

Although he has worked with the Snowball Express Program for the past 11 years to travel with young people and their guardians, in 2018 he took things an extra step further with the pre-Christmas excursion to Florida sponsored by American Airlines.

'You cannot underestimate the power of bringing all these kids together in a happy environment because we're trying to bring joy to them right before the holidays, which is a difficult time for a child who's lost a parent,' he told The Hollywood Reporter

'So bringing all these kids together at the happiest place on earth was very, very special.

'We have counseling, we have all kinds of communal activities that focus on the healing aspect of a gold star family member who's grieving, but we also want to provide hope, happiness and joy.'

He described the occasion as bittersweet.

'It's heartwarming because it makes you feel good to see the kids laughing and having a fun time, but it's also heartbreaking because you know why they're there,' he continued.

'They're there because of loss and grief, and because they are a military family who's paid the ultimate price.'

Each year he raises $30million to build homes for wounded veterans and support gold star families.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
