A newly engaged British couple who managed to drop their engagement ring down a grate in New York's Times Square have been found and reunited with their diamond jewelry after a huge search effort by the NYPD.
John Drennan and his fiance Daniella, who live two hours north of London, were caught on surveillance cameras frantically searching for the ring in Times Square on Friday night after it slipped off her finger and fell through a grate.
The distraught couple had asked nearby NYPD officers to help but they were unable to immediately locate the ring.
The NYPD later put a call out on social media asking for help locating the couple because officers had luckily managed to retrieve the engagement ring.

John and Daniella, a newly engaged British couple who managed to drop the engagement ring down a grate in New York's Times Square on Friday night, have now been identified after police launched a social media effort to track them down. They are pictured above after the proposal
Officers posted the surveillance images and a photo of the engagement ring.
The couple spotted the Twitter post as soon as they touched down in London on Sunday morning.
They have since been in touch with police and they are working to return the ring safely.
Both John and Daniella took to Twitter to express their delight and thank the NYPD officers involved.
Despite police initially saying John dropped the ring while proposing, the couple clarified the proposal actually occurred in Central Park earlier that day.
In extremely unlucky circumstances, the ring slipped off Daniella's finger as they were walking over a subway grate in Times Square later that night.

'Thank you so much @NYPD and everyone for sharing and reuniting me with my ring! Proposal was in Central Park and fell off over the drain! Thought was gone forever! Can't thank officers enough!' Daniella tweeted.
John said police had to physically stop him from climbing down the drain so he could search himself.
'So so happy to have ring back! God bless America!' he tweeted.
NYPD Police Commissioner James P. O'Neill confirmed that the couple had been in touch.
'Found 'em! Well done Twitterverse. The relieved couple is back in their home country now, but @NYPD will be sure to get the ring to them quickly... and safely. Happy holidays, everyone.'
He then tweeted a photo of the happy couple, saying: 'Congrats to John and his betrothed, Daniella (they're from across the pond, about 2 hours north of London). All's well that end's well. #gratenews'.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
