«Breaking News» Native Americans mark Thanksgiving with day of mourning

Thanksgiving is nothing to celebrate for Native Americans, who gathered Thursday in the town where the Pilgrims settled for a solemn National Day of Mourning observance.

The holiday's noon gathering in downtown Plymouth, Massachusetts, recalled the disease, racism and oppression that the European settlers brought.

It's the 49th year that the United American Indians of New England have organized the event on Thanksgiving Day.

Moonanum James, a co-leader of the group, said: 'Native people have no reason to celebrate the arrival of the Pilgrims.'

Participants of the annual gathering beat drums, offered prayers as well as public speeches.

Participants condemned pipeline projects and fracking that they say needlessly and recklessly degrades the environment.

They also expressed their solidarity with refugees from Latin America who are being denied entry to the U.S.

The UAINE website explained that this year's event is 'dedicated to our thousands of relatives who are migrants and are being abused by ICE and other government agencies, including having their children stolen from them.

'Thanksgiving day is a reminder of the genocide of millions of Native people, the theft of Native lands, and the relentless assault on Native culture.

'Participants in National Day of Mourning honor Native ancestors and the struggles of Native peoples to survive today.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
