«Breaking News» Social media users said the 2019 Oscars stage 'looked like Donald Trump’s hair'

Users on social media had a strong reaction to the set for the 91st Annual Academy Awards, saying it looked like the president's hair.

The flowing design of the Oscars stage, built at the Dolby Theatre in Holllywood, was likened by many on Sunday night to the coif atop President Donald Trump's head.

'That stage looks like Donald Trump’s hair,' Twitter user @ninjabels7 said, far from alone in making the observation.

The set was designed by award-winning creative director and designer David Korins, who worked on the sets for Hamilton and Dear Evan Hansen.

Verified Twitter user Ben Popper wondered if it was done intentionally, writing: 'Wait, is the Oscar stage designed to look like Trump’s hair?' 

The actual theme behind the final result was inclusivity, Korins said.

Verified Twitter user Ben Popper wondered if it was done intentionally, writing: 'Wait, is the Oscar stage designed to look like Trump’s hair?'

A person identified as Brian Matthews from Texas apparently thought the display was worthy of taking home its own Oscar.

'The award for best actor goes to Donald Trump’s Hair for it’s spectacular work as the Stage Facade,' Matthews tweeted.

User @Matthew_T_Rader agreed, writing: 'Such beautiful presidential Oscar winning hair!'

While Popper joked the uncanny resemblance between the set and the president hairdo may have been planned, inn truth, Korins was going for a different purposeful statement that didn't have anything to do with the Commander in Chief's aesthetic.

'I took a long, hard look at the world, and regardless of where you stand [politically], it’s pretty clear that there are a lot of hard-lined lines in the sand,' Korins told Architectural Digest.

'There’s a lot of rectilinear and rigid thinking and there’s a lot of ups and downs, and I wanted to make something that was a distinct statement about inclusion. There’s almost not a [single] straight line onstage and [in] the entire design.'

Korins continued: 'We have built an installation of an incredibly soft, beautiful, sweeping, asymmetrical portal that wraps literally out into the audience, covers the opera boxes, and hugs the audience.

'It is a statement of inclusion, it’s a statement about community in the room and then also reaching out through the camera with the different kinds of immersive angles.'

Another user with account name @elunatyk joked, 'If Hollywood is so "liberal" why is the Oscar stage Donald Trumps hair?'

A Twitter user listed as Kayla and tagged as living in Seattle said, 'Can’t wait to spend the next 3 hours watching celebs standing under Trump’s hair.'

A user listed as being named Jessica teased that the president might expect royalties for the setup, which he said bore a striking resemblance to his hairstyle.

'Trump called...he's mad that no one asked for his permission to use the likeness of his hair for the oscars stage...' Jessica wrote. 

One outspoken user with the account handle @CupcakePond wrote, in all caps, '#Oscars NO ONE CAN TELL ME THAT PROSCENIUM ARCH IS NOT DONALD TRUMP'S HAIR. NO ONE.'

Laughter is another great way to bring people together, so it looks like Korins accomplished his goal in multiple ways on Hollywood's big night.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
