«Breaking News» Coronation Street: Furious viewers threaten to BOYCOTT soap after Sally Metcalfe is found guilty

Coronation Street viewers were furious after Sally Metcalfe (Sally Dynevor) was found guilty of fraud, money laundering and bribery on Monday night's episode.

The former major of Weatherfield collapsed when she heard the decision, as her husband Tim and daughter Sophie were left in tears.

Mayor Sally had previously been tricked into handing a council grant over to Duncan over the summer, under the false impression that he ran a charity.

Viewers have been waiting with baited breath to hear about the trial verdict, and it seems that her sister Gina may have sealed her fate as she admitted to the jury that she wasn't 100 percent sure that she wouldn't have cheated.

During the trial, Sally begged the jury to believe her, as she said: 'I have never stolen any money. I have never had an affair. I love my husband. I would never cheat on him. He is everything to me!'

But alas it was to no avail, as they named her guilty, and all Sally could do was cry out 'I didn't do it' as she was taken back to prison.

Fans have likened the unfair trial to Deirdre Barlow and her false imprisonment, as well as the historic 'Free the Weatherfield One' campaign of the 1990s.

With many calling for the show to 'free Sally', some even went so far as to blast the showrunners' decision to present the justice system in such a way.

One wrote: '#Corrie The Sally guilty storyline is so horrible, that I am boycotting Coronation Street until Sally is released!'

Another user added: 'So glad I only watch #ClassicCorrie now. Where it's 1992 & young Sally has just given birth to Rosie. Life was better back then.'

While another slammed: 'I'm so bloody fed up of Corrie having innocent people being found guilty in court all the time. It happened with Anna, now it's happened AGAIN with Sally. We NEED to see justice PREVAIL. Anything else is just an unsatisfactory end to a court battle storyline.'

One Twitter user said: 'Shows how British society has deteriorated. 20 years ago the nation demanded justice for Deirdre, now poor Sally is rotting away in prison and no one gives a damn.

While she is going to prison, Sally won't be leaving the show as viewers can expect to find out the length of her sentence, as well as see her life behind bars.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
