CNN’s chief White House correspondent Jim Acosta returned to the White House briefing room for a news conference with Press Secretary Sarah Sanders - the first encounter between the two since the reporter was briefly banned earlier this month.
Sanders convened her first press briefing since October 29 on Tuesday.
She took questions from reporters after two of President Donald Trump’s top aides - National Economic Council Director Larry Kudlow and National Security Adviser John Bolton - addressed the media.
Though Acosta did not ask any questions of Bolton and Kudlow, he did get to pose a few questions to Sanders.
The CNN reporter asked Sanders about whether the White House would recommend that former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort should cooperate with Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation.

Mueller’s office told a federal judge on Monday that Manafort had breached his plea agreement by lying repeatedly to the FBI despite pledging to cooperate with the probe.
In the same court filing, Manafort denied lying, but both sides agreed the court should move ahead and set a date to sentence him for his crimes.
Prosecutors said they plan to file a report before sentencing laying out the alleged crimes Manafort committed after pleading guilty in September.
‘We can only speak to what our role is in that process,’ Sanders told Acosta when asked if the President would advise Manafort to cooperate with Mueller.
‘The President and the entire administration [has been] fully cooperative with the Special Counsel’s office.’
Acosta then asked Sanders a follow-up question about Trump’s questioning reports by his own government agencies regarding climate change and the alleged murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
Trump has said he doesn’t believe a recently released federal report about the effects of climate change.

While the Sanders-Acosta exchange was tense, it was nowhere near as explosive as the November 7 press conference in which Trump admonished the CNN reporter (above)

He has also questioned the CIA’s conclusion that Khashoggi, a U.S. resident who wrote for The Washington Post, was murdered on the orders of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MbS), a close ally of Trump and his son-in-law, Jared Kushner.
As Acosta was asking his question, Sanders interjected: ‘That’s not true.’
Unfazed, Acosta then continued to ask the question: ‘Why doesn’t [Trump] have faith in his advisors?’
To which Sanders replied: ‘That’s not true.
‘The President has a great deal of faith in the intelligence community and certainly in the team that he has assembled around him.’
When Acosta pressed Sanders about Trump’s skepticism regarding the CIA’s findings on Khashoggi, the Press Secretary replied: ‘We haven’t seen definitive evidence from our intelligence community that ties [MbS] directly to that.
‘What we have seen is a number of individuals that we know are tied to that and those individuals have been sanctioned.’
While the Sanders-Acosta exchange was tense, it was nowhere near as explosive as the November 7 press conference.
Trump called the news conference at the White House the day after the midterm elections, when his party lost its majority in the House of Representatives though it did gain a couple of seats in the Senate.

Acosta made a triumphant return to the White House, which restored his credentials last week after CNN filed legal action
After telling Trump during a contentious news conference that he wanted to 'challenge' him about his border policy, Acosta argued with him and remained standing with a White House microphone when the president told him his time was up.
Acosta also refused to surrender the microphone to a bewildered female intern.
The White House then circulated a doctored video which was edited to make it appear as if Acosta initiated physical contact with the intern.
The White House retaliated by revoking Acosta’s ‘hard pass,’ prompting CNN to file legal action against the administration.
Last week, the administration, realizing that it did not have a chance to legally bar Acosta from the White House, backed down and restored his credentials.
The Acosta saga was just the latest blow-up in the long-running feud between his network, CNN, and the Trump administration.
Throughout his election campaign and after he was elected President, Trump has lashed out at CNN, calling it 'fake news' and 'the enemy of the people.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
