A 61-year-old registered sex offender was caught hiding in the back of a school bus full of kindergarteners returning from a field trip in Minneapolis, Minnesota on Thursday.
Michael Charles Friedrichs, who pleaded guilty to fifth-degree criminal sexual conduct in 2011 related to masturbating on a public school bus near multiple children, was arrested and released following the incident.
Friedrichs was also convicted in 2004 of engaging in sexual conduct and contact with two 15 year old male victims, at least one of whom was the son of a woman he had once dated, TwinCities.com reported.
He is a Level 3 sex offender in the state of Minnesota, meaning he is considered to be at the highest risk to re-offend.
He was released from prison in April, and had completed his required period of supervision, according to Minnesota Department of Corrections records.

Friedrichs was allegedly spotted in the back of a school bus full of St. Paul Public School kindergarteners who were returning from a field trip to the Walker Art Center, parent chaperone Maggie Zimmerman said.
Video captured Friedrichs prying open the doors to enter the empty bus before the Chelsea Heights Elementary School students boarded after a visit to the art center in Minneapolis, St. Paul Public Schools spokesperson Kevin Burns said.
The driver was not yet on board the bus at that time.
Zimmerman said that 'parents are horrified and helpless,' while expressing her concern with a criminal justice system that would allow Friedrichs the opportunity to offend again.
'In my mind, this whole thing highlights a system that sets people loose again over and over, continually endangering children in the community,' Zimmerman said.

Police reports did not indicate any lewd acts in the presence of or any contact with students, St. Paul Police Department Public Information Officer Steve Linders said.
According to Zimmerman, there were 26 children and four adults on the bus when the teacher of her daughter's kindergarten class noticed Friedrichs in the back seat, while driving along Interstate 94.
'I didn’t initially see anyone when I looked back, but then saw a head peek up over the seats and pop back down again,' Zimmerman said.
'The bus driver radioed dispatch about an unidentified person on the bus. She had him move to a front seat so she could watch him. … The man asked to be let off the bus a couple of times along the way, but the driver did not let him.'
'At no time were students unsupervised by teachers and chaperones,' Principal Jill Gebeke told parents of kindergartners on the bus, in a written statement.
'SPPS has also informed its school bus contractors about the incident to reinforce our required safety protocols. When a driver enters or exits a bus, they must walk through to verify that the bus is empty and ready for its next route.'
Friedrichs has a history of being found on unoccupied school buses, dating back to at least 1996 when he was found on board one in a Rosemount bus storage lot.
In 2004, he was found again on an unoccupied school bus which was parked at a zoo in Minnesota, Apple Valley police said.
Authorities in 2011 said investigations led to Friedrichs admitting he had masturbated on unoccupied schools buses.
On Thursday, Friedrichs told authorities that he had gotten on the wrong bus after having arrived on a different bus from the Southdale Center in Edina.
He was taken into custody at the elementary school on suspicion of a registration violation, but was released from Ramsey County jail on Saturday when it was determined by the St. Paul Police Department's sex crimes unit that the case would be handled by Minneapolis police, as that is where Friedrichs is registered as a sex offender.
'I want to see this man both charged for this incident and, ultimately, committed as a sexual predator,' Zimmerman said.
'I can’t guess how many buses he may have gotten on and off of without being caught. Or how many other buses he may board in the near future. His conviction record suggests that prison has not rehabilitated him and that he will continue to do this as long as he is free.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
